Had cause to visit Bangas last week with a Thai friend who was happy to point out the ever changing BKK skyline. We noted a very large advertising sign extolling the virtues of a relatively new apartment complex. The sign also indicated the proximity to the city the "imminent" arrival of the BTS (in 3 years) and a starter price of ~900,000 for the starter 30 sq.m so we went to have a squizz.
The property managers of the complex (and perhaps part owners) include an international RE firm whose name has reference to a period of time (current).
We were shown a furnished and unfurnished example. The main door opens straight into the "apartment" which also doubles as the lounge/living area. There is a rather small section put aside for shower/washing and an even smaller area for food storage. There is no facility to cook, no extraction and minimal room to put a SMALL fridge. Apparently the Thais on site eat out (every day). What did they do during the recent nam tuam - sheepish smile!
Yes there is parking available but not allocated and yes you can have visitors but they may have to park in 1 of the 20 or so spots at the front near the office. Not bad for 2000 apartments I suppose.
As for the city view from the 4th floor good if you like looking at the tops of ramshackle Thai dwellings next door or into the side of 1 of the concrete monoliths housing your happy neighbours.
And how much for this fully functional 21st C prime example of Thai contemporary living - well dam me it is a bargain at 900K + 30 K. Why the difference between the advertised price and stated price - well that has to do with the arrival of the BTS and if you want better views each floor in height up will cost you 8 k/floor extra.
Having viewed this "dog box" and noting the peeling paint from 1/2 finished work in the corridors and the patchy spots on the exterior, the hanging poorly terminated electrical wires I have to wonder if building in HH is all that bad ?
When are city views, city views?
Re: When are city views, city views?
I've no direct experience of the Bangkok property market but I read Thai newspapers quite a bit online and all the adverts I see for apartments in Bangkok are way above 900,000 bt so I think you might be probing the very bottom end of the market there Charlesh.
This morning I saw 36m apartment in Asoke advertised at over 4 million baht!
