beaches near Hua Hin
I'm not a massive fan of the beach at Hua Hin and wondered what other beaches you would recommend that were say within 1 hour of Hua Hin.
Why would you go ? the beach ? views ? food / drink available ? solitude ?
Be over this time next week

Plenty! Depends how far you want to go though ...
South of Takiab is Suan Son and Hat Sai Noi
Then there is Khao Kalok - viewtopic.php?f=36&t=13314
Further south is Dolphin Bay - viewtopic.php?f=36&t=7940
Prachuabkirikhan - viewtopic.php?f=36&t=13373
South of Prachuab - viewtopic.php?f=36&t=17492
There are more topics in the South of Hua Hin forum: viewforum.php?f=36
Not too familiar with the beaches north, maybe someone else will post some reviews.

Re: beaches near Hua Hin
Well, Buksi has already answered your question as far as south of Hua-Hin is concerned. I'm also not sure what lies to the north, but if Cha-Am beach is anything to go by, then I wouldn't expect too much. Generally speaking, the local beaches around here leave a lot to be desired. Had the kids down at the one beach yesterday and we left after a few minutes because of the stench of sewage. Didn't smell like toilet sewage so I assume it's just washing water and etc. Nevertheless, the beach was stinking, and I really couldn't help but feel sorry for the people staying in the nearby hotel.
I'm not too fussy, but I think if want relatively clean water, you need to find a beach that isn't lined with condos, hotels and etc. Sad but true.

Re: beaches near Hua Hin
Are there no beaches atall between Khao Takiab and Khao Talok. I'm sure I went to one about 3 years ago that was about 30 minutes away. Deserted beach 2 local restaurants and a few stalls behind beach (maybe it was Khao Talok)
I think Khao Talok is about as far as I would want to go unless it was somewhere really special.
Anyway thanks for the links interesting reading.

That sounds like Hat Sai Noi.

Hua Hin`s best kept secret beach, but you do need your own transport, or a reliable call taxi.lomuamart wrote:That sounds like Hat Sai Noi.

Reasonably good beaches north of Hua Hin, but South of Cha-am. My condo is between the towns and beaches are pretty clean, no sewer issues, and absolutely empty most of the time. Not the great scenary you get south of HH but still pretty relaxing.

How much would it cost for a reliable taxi from central HH to this secret beach?

I go to Pak Nam Pran Buri which is about 30 minutes or less on my motorbike. There is a Seafood Restaurant at the North End of the beach and I thought the water around there was dirty and looked like sewage was being pumped in. However, as I went a little way South by about a 1000 metres or less the water was a lot better and the beach was very clean.
There are also a few beachside stalls selling local food which were good.

Re: beaches near Hua Hin
When I come in November I fancy a trip south of HH to check out the beaches, if it is just for one day then a taxi would suffice.
Probably I would go for 2 or 3 nights and see what I could find between Hua Hin and that secret Air Base. This would mean renting a car, plus an interpreter/guide.
I have spent an hour or two on the beach at HH near to the Hilton, the sand is OK, the water can be dirty looking at times, also the hidden rocks can soon graze your legs if the under current makes you lose balance slightly, still pleasant though.

The stretch of coast from Pak Nam Pran down to Ban Bo Nok near Kui Buri is a fabulous area and has an addictiveness about it. Hundreds of good places to eat either overlooking the mountains or the sea, mostly cheap prices and smiling locals.
I love going into HH once or twice a week but I am delighted to get back to Dolphin Bay and see the stars in the sky and the green lights of the fishing boats on the horizon. Each to their own but I've found my piece of paradise.

The restaurant at the north end is probably the Ox. I like that placeBernard wrote:I go to Pak Nam Pran Buri which is about 30 minutes or less on my motorbike. I fully agree with you and I like the beaches south of Pak Nam Pran, especially Khao Kalok...

Re: beaches near Hua Hin
I wouldn't worry, I was there on Friday and there were precisely four of us on the whole beach. I've been a regular visitor every time I've been in Hua Hin over the last ten years and it's never changed very much. The only times it gets anything like busy is when you get the odd bus or two of Thai students and they normally do their own thing down the other end of the beach.sateeb wrote:...not a secret anymoreNereus wrote:Hua Hin`s best kept secret beach, but you do need your own transport, or a reliable call taxi.lomuamart wrote:That sounds like Hat Sai Noi.
