Culture Ministry shocked at breast painting on talent show

Post by buksida »

The Culture Ministry will call a meeting with organisers of Thailand's Got Talent after the popular programme aired a female contestant painting on a canvas with her bare breasts on national television on Sunday.

Culture Minister Sukumol Khunploem said on Monday that the programme had high ratings and people of all ages watched it.

The programme was televised when children were likely to be watching, she said.

"There must be limits on artistic expression. I was shocked when I saw the clip," Ms Sukumol said. "The ministry will meet the organisers of Thailand's Got Talent to get an explanation."

The show was a recording and not a live broadcast and the organisers could edit "inappropriate" content, she added.

The clip below, uploaded to YouTube by DuangAesthetic, shows a Thailand's Got Talent contestant removing her shirt and bra, pouring paint on her bare breasts and rubbing her body on a canvas.

One of the three judges said the act was inappropriate to the country's culture and expressed her disappointment with many of the audience who voiced their support for the 23-year-old contestant.

Two other judges said the woman passed the audition, saying the act was another type of artistic expression.

The contestant told the judges that if she painted normally there would be nothing special.

Has nobody informed Thailand that we're in the 21st century? That female judge needs to go and get herself sorted.....lol.

Maybe the Culture Ministry fears that in the next round she will be firing paint balls at the canvas.

I think I need to take Ms Sukumol for a night out in Patpong, I am sure I'll be able to show her things far more shocking!

Yes pleng and patpong to people who are there specifically for that sort of thing was the correct venue

However even my Mrs was disgusted

The biggest BS of it was calling it art

Having daubed herself and rubbed up against the paper/canvas she turned to the audience raised both arms and showed her Tits. Her interest in the canvass was nil nana zero zilch
She was obviously doing it for her own gratification and exhibitionism

As for her saying it was special i remember it being done in the UK years before i came here, 1960s ring a bell

and please remember yes this is Thailand and they are a different culture wearing jeans t shirts and bras to go into the sea being the NORMAL way

Far superior to the HUGE waddling gobs of lard in Bikinis and diaphenous wrapparounds i had the displeasure of having to avoid in Hua Hin

Here we go again. It's the '(insert country) Got Talent' Simon Cowell PR team clocking up some interest in the programme, that may possibly not be doing as well as expected in the ratings.

They did the same in the UK with those ridiculous girls having a bit of a fight on stage, and a plump, scruffy woman from Scotland. It's all planned, and staged, and the judges know exactly what's coming up. Forget the fake 'Oh, my god!' looks on their faces.

It works...

Exactly.

Although I have to say that the dumpy Scottish lady was very good...

Sarge, you can be such a pompous twit sometimes!
My Mrs thought it was hilarious.
Nobody anywhere ever thought it was serious art.
It was a publicity stunt designed to amuse some and 'shock' others.
As VS said, it worked.

It was screened on Thai national TV, for crying out loud - you don't really believe that's uncensored, do you?
This is the way

Clearly I was being facetious with that comment.

Maybe, again, it's a generation thing but none of my friends were shocked in the slightest. They all just commented that she was clearly trying to get famous by doing something a bit controversial. Funny how they can easily see through her, yet will vigorously defend all the pretty-boy wanna-be pop stars and washed out crack heads that appear on their beloved ghost show!

It's all coming out now...

This woman judge who was 'appalled' by it had, only two years ago, done some photo shoots of herself completely topless with her hands covering her tits. A year before that she was in a photo shoot with two African pantie clad men suggestively posing with her...

You gotta love it eh!

It wasn't a live broadcast, so Channel 3 allowed it by design to realise whatever ends. They (Channel 3) could have just edited it out if they were bothered by it, but didn't, so it seems to me that viewing figures and controversy over-ruled this concern in the pursuit of attention or viewing figures.

However, the piety of the woman judge seems a bit plastic and sanctimonious to me when all you have to do is look around the rest of the country in almost any city....guess she doesn't visit much of it though.
