moving from chumphon to hua hin

Post by jingjoe »

Hi everyone i am in the midst of a move from the south to hua hin,As much as i love the beaches around chumphon i need to move to a larger city.
My wife(soon to be ex) family lives in chumphon and we have a young child.
Reasons for move..well im under 50 so i need to change visa from marriage to ed(which i did with one of the sponsors of this site last week) and there are no schools down here.
My wife and i are still very friendly and we share custody,so i don't really want to live too far away from my son and its a short 3hour drive to her mums place.
The schools are better here for my son(when he's old enough)no suitable international schools in chumphon.
So I'll be a newbie soon in hua hin and hopefully this forum will be a wealth of info.
Things i will be searching for accom to rent, golf clubs to join, kitesurfing, internet access and cable tv choices, restaurants, maybe a good night out in a bar....pretty much everything.
I have a few months before i need to make it a permanent stay
cheers jj

Golf - let me know when your next in Hua Hin and will be happy to help there, also renting.
Kitesurfing popular both here and Pranburi easy to take a look at the places who offer and see where you feel happy.
Schools - the most popular preschool seems to be BECC and English run nursery that does fantastic stuff with the children.

All the best for your move, I am sure you will love life here in HH

Thanks jw for the offer, are you a member of any of the golf clubs or societies?
Becc is the school i am looking at.I had a look at some accom a few weeks ago when i was up.The area that seemed to be the most convenient to becc, supermarkets, beach for kitesurfing and my language school was around sportvilla, a little older but the townhouses are 2bedrooms,good pools, gym and seemed to be reasonably priced.
I wanted to leave the car with the ex and i was going to get around by bike.
