I am trying to see if anyone out there would be interested in meeting up over a beer to watch the live/recorded International rugby union matches ?
If so being new to HH can anyone recommend a pub where we can watch the matches with the sound on at least 1 tv even when prime live football matches are on ie a dedicated rugby pub like UN Irish pub in Chiang Mai,Jamesons in Pattaya ,Lazy Coconut & Irish pub in Samui do-?
If not let's all choose a pub & approach the owner - it'll be more business for them too as all the pubs I have mentioned benefit handsomely from the rugby crowd.
Form a Rugby Club in HH -anyone interested?!

No chance. "We show every match/race live" here has a hidden addendum of "unless there is also a football match showing, of course".Bruce wrote:where we can watch the matches with the sound on at least 1 tv even when prime live football matches are on

You'd need to bring a pretty big group along with you to assure the bar that it's worthwhile turning the football crowd away. Especially as you could decide to move your club at any time and they'd be then be left without you AND all the football customers they'd previously alienated.

Sorry -you misunderstood my email ......I meant only 1 tv dedicated to rugby & only when the International rugby union is on -the others can watch football or whatever -surely there are pubs here with the facility to have different channels on different tv's like all the other pubs around Thailand I have mentioned?!!

Yes but you want with sound. I don't know of any bars in Hua Hin that have a layout that would allow sound for the Rugby and the Football

Crawfords when Ken ran it would've catered for what you're asking. However, I don't know if that's still a possibility now that is has morphed into O'Neills.

I never had any trouble watching 6 Nations rugby at Bernies - is that place still going?

I would, but unfortunately I avoid drinking at the moment. My operation earlier this year has significantly reduced my capacity to consume alcohol. I find the best way to avoid the discomfort of over-indulging is to avoid social drinking altogether.pharvey wrote:I thought yourself and Jr were also big fans - surely youl'd also be interested in joining up BB?
My son would love to get together and play the game. He's too young and fit to want to just sit around and watch the games with a couple of beers at the moment - give him a few years

Wasn't thinking there BB - sorry..... Pity though, would love to meet up and discuss the merits of Welsh/English rugby over a few beers!! We would get on like a house on fire - me being a Welsh/Bath supporter, you being English/Bristol (?).......Big Boy wrote:I would, but unfortunately I avoid drinking at the moment. I'm sure your son will realise the error of his ways before long and join the rest of us has-beens!!
Take care anyway - and hope you can enjoy a pint in the near future!!

Don't get me wrong - I can still manage the odd beer. It's just that I avoid regular meet-ups/visits to the bar. If you're in town, I'll be more than happy to meet up for half a shandy.
