We will be returning to Hua Hin after a few years absence due to Covid and health. For some reason am having difficulty booking the airport bus online so thought we would just purchase seats on arrival at airport.
Has any member recently travelled on the bus? Was it full. How likely are we to have difficulty securing a seat without advance booking?

Have no problem using this link

But at the moment the buses are never full so you can buy your tickets on arrival

I use this bus when possible because it is much more comfortable than a taxi. There are normally quite a few empty seats. Problem is that the bus only goes about 5 times a day and the times often do not match with your departure/arrival times.

I've just made a couple of bookings online recently and it only works for a month in advance now for some reason.
I was able to buy a ticket one way and then had to wait a few weeks to book the return journey.

Thanks for the info. Problem with the net appears to be related to my card but not sure. I think I will just take a chance and buy fare on the day.

4 to 5 hours, and maybe longer at weekends. I remember when I used it regularly, it was often less than 3 hours. I guess the road improvements are having an effect :?

eh? are you sure? I used it yesterday from HH to Swampy. Initially I went to the bus station in the Petchkasem road but they told me they don't have a service from there to the airport and to go to the airport pickup. It' 325 baht and took 3 hours 15 minutes - really good comfortable service and infinitely more comfortable than any pickup/SUV I've ever sat in the back of. 20 baht for extra bags after the first one. It runs every hour still but they've scrubbed off 07:00 which obviously was the one I wanted! But apart from that every hour. No more taxis for me whilst this is running. Even worth getting for a night out in BKK!

Where is the 'Airport Pickup' please?

The timing sounds more reasonable than joelle's update, which would mean you'd have to leave Hua Hin about 9 hours before your flight (1 hour to get to the bus station, 5 hours travelling time, 3 hours prior to check-in).

Is this new service indirect competition to Roong Reuang Coach?

The pickup is the usual place on the left after the airport when you come from Hua Hin as per link below

As for the timing I agree that 5 hours seems unreasonable, it's always taken me 3 hours from Cha Am, last time I took it was in May.

The 5 hours is a worst case scenario, usually caused by accidents or Bkk traffic. I always find that the Bkk end makes up a 3rd of the journey. It's frustrating for me, as depending on the route they take, I sometimes want to get off en-route as it's nearer to my destination (I use the bus to go to Bkk, not to catch a flight).

Worst scenario or not, if the company are stating 5 hours, and you leave allowing less time and miss your flight you are going to look pretty stupid.

I'd presume under such circumstances, any travel insurance claim would be void.

Airport VIP Bus to and from Hua Hin

I’m sure most people wouldn’t be stupid enough to allow just the minimum 3 hours, although if you are fortunate to make it in that time, you’ll have a long wait.
