Post by splitlid »

went to Baan Steak last night, its on soi 102, past the train tracks, shophouses on right hand side, in the same row as Sinatras.
had NZ mussels in garlic and cheese.
surf and turf.
pork knuckle.

excellent food, the chef has worked in many top hotels in Thailand, definately worth a visit.
its only just opened.

I visited Baan Steak today with a friend. We both were really impressed by the food and the clean, crisp decor. Caesar salad, pork knuckle and grilled salmon was so much we did not get to try out the desserts.

Baan Steak is open 18.30 - 22.30 Wednesdays closed. Baan Steak is definitely a cut above the regular road-side eatery, it truly is a fine restaurant yet reasonably priced. The below with Caesar salad and some beers was about 500 THB each. Considering the quality of the food this is more than reasonable. Staff is really nice, go and see for yourself!

P.S. You can mention the Sauerkraut. It is home-made and really to die for.

Correct me if I am wrong but isn't that the guy that used to have Chez Lou Lou's in Railway Plaza?

I do not think so. Baan Steak is run (owned?) by a Thai National chef with a long and impressive history as executive chef in several various 5-star hotels. In my opinion after my first visit this also is apparent by the quality of the food. Many more visit are evident in near future.

Telephone nos to Baan Steak are: 080 669 542 78 and 08 24 77 82 78

I visited Baan Steak again the other night with some friends. Now that Natta no longer is there, Baan Steak is the place to get a perfect steak.

Yes, I do mean perfect!

Baan Steak style is slightly different from Natta's but result is just quite as impeccable. I take also my salads seriously and have despaired for more than adequate Caesar Salad or Salad Niçoise. No longer so, Baan Steak does 9.5/10 Caesar what with real anchovy sauce and Parmesano in slices from the wedge rather that sprinkled from the tin.

All in all, as near perfection as reasonable. Baan steak are quite reasonable and even more so when one takes the quality into account.

I urge every budding gourmand to visit Baan Steak. You'll thank me for the exhortation!

I've been there several times and love the place. The presentation is what you would expect in a 5 star restaurant instead of a shop house and the food and service is excellent, maybe the best at this price point (which is in the mid range for Hua Hin), but I had bad luck with the steak. The one time I ordered (fillet) it was thin, tough and full of gristle (nowhere near the thick tender and juicy fillet of Nata's). I assume from other comments that this was an anomaly, as we've loved everything else we've tried there and will continue to return. I've just stayed away from the (beef) steak since that visit, which is not a problem as I know of other great steak places around town (including the other outlet by the owner of Natta's) and Baan Steak has plenty of other offerings to keep us coming back.

The Thai owner (with many years as chef in the Dusit hotel chain around Thailand) and his wife are a very nice couple eager to please their customers...
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?
