The Manor Restaurant & Bar

Post by Lev »

You are warmly invited to come to the newly opened ‘Manor Restaurant & Bar’, soon to be part of The Manor Resort which will provide luxury accommodation in 2013. We are to be found on the ‘C’ Course of Springfield Golf Club but are run completely independently by British owners.

For those golfers amongst you who have wondered what that big house with the terracotta roof on the right hand side of the 3rd hole on the ‘C’ course at Springfield is, now you know, this is the home of the Manor Restaurant & Bar.

Yes. The Manor Resort, restaurant and bar are NOT a part of the golf course/club. I can also assure, the British couple who own the place are a very nice people, and I for one certainly wish them the very best of luck.

Now I'll just have to stop by for a beer or two myself.

Their website quotes the following:

The Manor is trying to be a little different and will specialise on offering food for Western tastes, as such Thai food will not generally be offered as it is readily available in so many places.

The Manor only serves freshly prepared food from the finest ingredients we can find locally and then cooked on site by our own European Chef. We aim to provide quality traditional British fayre not readily found in Hua Hin/Cha Am along with other popular European dishes, all at reasonable prices.

Rather than provide a menu (book!) with every conceivable dish you can think of from all around the world, we will provide a menu which will change daily with a variety of snacks and meals. We are also happy to take requests for other food items not on the menu provided we have the ingredients.

So I think it's fair to assume you will need to call them first or take pot luck and turn up and see what they have on that particular day!!

Freshly made sandwiches, salads, jacket potatoes with various toppings are generally available every day with 2 or more hot dishes which will change regularly. For example this week we will be offering Spaghetti Bolognese, Cottage Pie, Chicken Curry (Indian style) & Pork Roast.
During Xmas week we will be offering traditional meals on 24, 25 & 26th, so on those days the menu will be limited for other hot dishes. Bookings are now being taken for the 24th & 25th.
(Please note that we are normally closed on Tue & Wed but not on Xmas week, only closed on Thursday 27th.)
Please contact us for more details.

Since when has Gouda, Edam & Danish Blue been British? No Stilton? [Mod Edit:Comment removed as unprovoked]
Seems expensive for what it is.

Come on now, chaps. I take the point that about the only traditional item on the menu is the turkey, but isn't it customary to complain about a place after you've eaten there, rather than before?

Personally, I'm always happy to see a new eatery opening up in the area. Good luck to 'em all, says I!

I would have thought it much more sensible to assess whether you are likely to enjoy a restaurant from its own advertising and comments from others who have been (unfortunately none in this instance) and then based on that assessment decide whether to go or not, rather than go knowing that you won't enjoy it!
For me, no Christmas lunch or dinner is complete without Christmas Pudding. Mince pies just don't cut the mustard.
"Trimmings"? Be nice to know what they are.
I wish any new restaurant well and I'm sure this one will find its niche but I imagine there will be any number of already established, better located restaurants offering traditional Christmas fayre, whether British, American, Scandanavian or what have you.
As Sir Humphrey might have said if asked "a very courageous decision"!
Best of British!

Sprouts - yes, buttered with chestnuts!
Yorkshire pudding - with turkey? I don't think so!
Bread sauce - of course!
Stuffing? yes, sage & onion.
Pigs in Blankets - yes.
Mushy peas? No, no, no no, - not with this meal nor any other!
Trifle - only for Christmas Pudding wimps!

What about cranberry sauce? Essential with turkey!
Roast and mashed potatoes.
Roast parsnips.
Braised red cabbage.

It would really be a good idea for the Chef to show his hand to help in the decision making!
