Hello - My journey from Venice Beach to Hua Hin Starts Here

Post by mokven714 »

Hello all.

Introducing myself as probable Thailand retiree in next 18 months. Currently living in USA with my Thai beloved. We have visited Hua Hin a couple of times and both like it very much. We are big city people (London/Los Angeles here; Bangkok her) but love the ocean. We are living on the beach in Venice California and plan to move to Thailand when she gets her MBA and when I retire (about 18 months).

My interests include football (soccer), stock market, blackjack, travel and dining. I am an attorney (don't hold that against me). She wants to teach and start a small business when we move to Thailand.

Look forward to chatting with you.

Welcome to the forum.
Lot's of invaluable information on this site and plenty of answers to your questions.
I hope you can make it over and I'll certainly trade a cold Singha for some stock market advice.
All the best.

Welcome to the forum mokven714. There are couple of very active football (soccer) threads in the sports section of our forum. If English football is your cup of tea, go and have a look.

Gosh, in 18 months Hua Hin won't look the same as it does now. Having been born and raised next door (Culver City) to your living quarters and watching the swamp (that included Hoppyland) that is now Marina Del Rey and your stagnant canals now converted to nice channels of clean water--have seen a lot of development there over my 67 years living in area. 5 years here now and same is happening here too so much so that you may not recognize it if your away too long. Lots more coming here if you like what development brings but were heading over 500km south to live in smaller rural environment yet still near ocean and much more rain. Good luck with a business here. That will certainly bring some challenges.

Welcome! my wife (Thai) and I live in Brea, N Orange County. Our plans are to head over when I retire (2-3 years) and Hua Hin area is one of our choices.

My wife has lived here quite a while so our plan is to go over, rent a month, or so, at various places to see what we like

Good Luck! Everyone here is great so ask away at questions. I won't hold the attorney against you if you don't hold beancounting (CPA) against me!!

Welcome to the board. I live a few hours up the coast from you in Paso Robles. I'm planning on heading over to Hua Hin in the summer. I'll be heading down your way to work on the solar power system at the VA hospital at Wilshire & 405 in the next few weeks, let me know if you'd like to meet up for dinner.

It's been decades but I still can't get over that the official name of Culver City is 'The City of Culver City'.
