Hua Hin drafts new city plan

Post by buksida »

Provincial authorities are drafting a new Hua Hin city plan designed to cope with tourism growth and ensure proper infrastructure development.

Governor Veera Sriwattanatrakul said Monday the new city plan will address regulations which restrict or prohibit commercial development in some areas to help the expansion of Hua Hin town.

According to Mr Veera, tourist numbers in Hua Hin surged 40% last year as the town welcomed 3 million visitors _ both Thai and foreigners. That strong tourism growth is expected to continue, especially when the government's planned Bangkok-Hua Hin high-speed train service becomes operational, tentatively set for 2017.

The new city plan is likely to propose construction of a new bypass to alleviate traffic congestion, Mr Veera said.

However, he said sensitive areas, such as beaches and land near Klai Kangwon palace, will remain off-limits to commercial development.

The city plan will be put up for public hearings soon and is expected to be implemented within a year, Mr Veera said.

^ Very much needed and about 10 years late!
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

Probably similar to the HS train which they say is tentatively scheduled for operation in 2017 (just 4 years away) so we might be lucky and get it by 2027!!

Yes, too late for me as I have already fled the scene because of the over development of Hua Hin. Fat chance much will happen for many years and by then it will really be a congested mess.

If you feel up to it and have the time Brianks, please consider doing a report with some photos of your new area down there in the "On the Road" section. It would be interesting to a lot of people. Thanks. Pete
