Testicle-biting cousin of piranha caught in Paris

A Parisian doing a spot of fishing in the Seine river was left gobsmacked after reeling in what looked like a piranha fish, it emerged on Tuesday. The fish was actually a pacu, known as 'ball-cutter', after its proclivity for biting off men's testicles.

You and your buddies actually had one of these 'smoked' during one of your Finnvasions several years ago.

We've had Pacu in the ponds since day 1, and they are reaching 10 -12 kg these days.

I have read with amusement the various stories going around about their hankering for testicles - but suffice to say that we have had no such incident at the Lodge - yet!

As for attacking gooners - I think I would prefer to let loose an alligator gar or three - more devastating methinks............

I'm sure my memory isn't failing in this case, Terry, I may have forgotten the rest that happened during those parties at FL due to the amount of Chang I consumed but I'd surely remember had one of these bitten my testicles.

All jokes aside, these stories just highlight the stupidity of some people in particularly the aquarium trade.

I have seen, Pacu, Alligator Gar, Amazon Redtail Catfish, all offered for sale in aquatic shops here in Thailand.

People buy them as exotic pets, and when they've ate all other occupants of the aquarium, the owners then irresponsibly let them loose in the rivers and dams.

There are huge Pacu in the Pranburi River and also Alligator Gar have been found 'in the wild' around Pitsanulok. This simply offsets the balance of nature and these species ultimately wipe out the native Thai fish.

Apart from the damage they can do to innocent swimmer's testicles...............
