Can't do much worse than his sister, another one of the oligarchy that has no clue about politics. :banghead: :guns:

When did that become a requirement?

I think they know a thing or two about Thai politics to manage to stay in power without a coup for two years!
To be honest, however badly they run the country, I think that for the majority of the population the present stability is still an improvement on what was happening before.

The only way that anything will change is if someone starts an alternative populist party because the Democrats aren't going to get any support from the NE for a generation after the military crackdown of May 2010.

Well, when the population starts burning the capital and firing RPGs into public transport installations they need to be cracked down upon.

No other country on the planet would tolerate what the reds did to Thailand.

If Toxin thinks putting his son into power will solve anything he's not as smart as everyone credits him as being. It will just widen the already volatile political rift between two halves of the Kingdom ... but then maybe that's what the Shinawatras are counting on.

Unfortunately the way they went about it was to shoot journalists, medical staff and other innocent bystanders, not exactly a way to win future votes.

3 things have not changed since i came here in 1998

1.-The local govt has been controlled by the Democrat/Padipat party

2.-Hua Hin still floods

The Shinawatra's and their 'reds' need to be brought down real quick and taken out of the equation, before they cripple the country even more than they have done already. Until this happens the country will continue to fall further and further behind other Asian nations.

Will it happen....?

Doubt it!

A sorry state of affairs. If only the uneducated North gave Abhisit a fair chance, the country maybe... just maybe...would have moved forward onto the right path.

And you're absolutely certain that it was the military? Where I come from, known criminals that torch buildings, loot shops and etc would tend to be the primary suspects.

Taximan and his family can do all they want, but they would be stupid to think other powers that be are just going to take whatever comes their way. What's best for the country is not the issue here, and my guess is it's all going to boil over again in the not too distant future.

According to the military, they expended 117,923 rounds during the crackdown so it doesn't seem so far fetched.

I am not a Thaksin loyalist, and I'm pretty sure his son stinks. However, it is far too easy for some to forget the misdemeanours of the Yellow Shirts. I'm quite sure that there aren't many countries who would accept the occupying of the countries main international airport and the ousting of 2 democratically elected prime ministers with such little redress. For those who seem to believe that the Red Shirts got away with running through the streets with slingshots and a few handguns. I can tell you that they didn't. I was in Bangkok to see people being shot in the back of the head as they tried to run for cover, children, women, grandparents, the lot. Brains and blood and there are photos to prove the massacre of at least 200 innocent people. The display was put up on Racthadamneon later marking the anniversary. The reason why Abhisit has not entered the UK since, is that he may be arrested for crimes against humanity. It was a disgrace. In comparison, I don't believe 10 Yellow Shirts have lost their lives for their cause.
