Can mainlanders come to ROC?
Can mainlanders come to ROC?
Hey everybody I am looking to get a job in the republic of china (taiwan) but my wife is a mainlander, I know they cannot work in the ROC but does anybody know if they can come on residence visas? We both prefer the ROC to its communist counterpart so if anybody could lend some knowledge it would be much appreciated. Thanks

This forum is about Hua Hin in Thailand. There should be appropriate forums on Taiwan that may answer your question. https://www.google.com
Some people do confuse Thailand with Taiwan.

I am aware to that fact, there's no confusing those two countries, I only ask here because i live in hua Hin and figured maybe someone on the forum would know because none of the other forums I have checked have given me an answer.

They have consulates and embassies, your partner speaks Chinese. Call them up.

Re: Can mainlanders come to ROC?
Taiwan may not have an embassy in BKK. Most countries abandoned Taiwan to get in on the rush to do biz with China. Basically China said to ditch Taiwan if you want to do business with us. Result is Taiwan has formal diplomatic relations with ambassadors with only about a dozen minor-league countries like Paraguay. China had them booted from the UN, WHO, WTO etc.
A shame because Taiwan is a great country and the people are smart, hard working and generous.
There will be some sort of org representing them in Thailand, just need to do a bit of homework.

Re: Can mainlanders come to ROC?
No embassy in Thailand, a liaison/business office. The two do not have diplomatic relations. No ambassadors, no embassy. Trade office may not have the answer. Why not invest a few baht and make a long-distance call to Taipei?

Thanks for all of the responses everybody, the "cultural center" unfortunately didn't have a clear answer for me like most places if already tried so I think I may need to contact the Taipei office directly. Thanks again for the help.
