Using good English Sausages and Bacon

Post by Terry »

We've been doing English Breakfasts at the Lodge ever since we opened - 10 years ago
We also do Sausage Sandwiches :D
We also do Bacon Sandwiches
And our big seller, Bacon and Avocado Sandwiches. 8)

All to be found on our menu of over 50 dishes.

Many of our customers ask - Where do we get our Sausages and Bacon?

I tell them Hua Hin Ham & Bacon EXCLUSIVELY - 'cos nothing else will do.

Pop up and check us out - you don't have to fish to enjoy the view..........

Where's the hash brown Terry? :D

I certainly couldn't find it on the second pic, but it may be on the first underneath those other little pieces of heaven...

Agree with the shout for Hua Hin Ham and Bacon. I used to live in the next soi down to it and would use them often. Never was I disappointed with anything I bought.

'HASH BROWNS ??"..........

That's why we have fried bread 8)

It's an English Breakfast matey - even the baked beans are sacrilege..

And yes - Hua Hin Ham & Bacon are tops as far as I'm concerned - and they even sell hash browns

Take away my baked beans and we have a problem!

Seriously though, for the surroundings alone it's worth the journey.

Edit: When I talk about the 'surroundings', I mean The Lodge ... not Hua Hin Ham & Bacon. The latter's surroundings, erm... not that much - It's a 'take your goods away' place. :)

My wife and I had a delightful breakfast at the Lodge this morning...including baked beans and fried bread. And the scenery is great. My wife reacted with joy when she saw fish caught being promptly returned to the pond.

Not entirely sure why baked beans would be sacrilege on an English breakfast, but am with you on the hash browns. Can't cope with fried bread myself - even toast can be a struggle.

There are many items that you can include in a "Traditional" English breakfast. Baked beans and hash browns are more a colonial addition  I guess that it also depends on which part of England you come from as to which items are commonly found.

Whatever you like is my motto although I personally struggle with the concept of black pudding! Each to their own!

I have a bit of a problem with wheat products (courtesy of a severely coeliac father), and particularly where fats are involved, on an empty stomach. So fried bread, croissants (and pizza... ) are generally 'right out'. Even bread / toast and butter can be an issue early doors. Obviously, the 'holy trinity' of an English, has to be eggs, bacon and sausage, but I have always seen beans and / or tomatoes as the standard addition. To me black pudding is very nouveau, as is mushrooms. Hash-browns, pancakes, waffles and chips(!) very American, and very non-essential.

All well and good.

What I find pretty much unacceptable though, aren't so much the additions but what people pass-off as an English. Ham instead of bacon, frankfurter or chipolata style sausages, sausage meat patties and so on :cuss: . Naming no names, but several of the European owned establishments seem to be trading on a false premis, IMHO! :guns:

There's nothing more likely to guarantee a good long thread than one devoted to the Full English Breakfast - great marketing, Terry!

Agreed. There's absolutely no reason for this, certainly in HH - everything is readily available.

Name and shame those places, Korky!

Not if you're allergic to egg, it ain't! :cuss:

To have gone through life without having ever dunked a bread soldier into a boiled egg is bad enough, but to miss out on a third of the holy trinity is even worse! :(

So for me, bacon, sausage, tomato's (fresh or tinned) and mushrooms is my starting point, everything else depends on hunger, mood and what's available.

Agree about HHH&B, I had a breezy three days in Hua Hin back in July and picked up bacon and sausages to take back to Korat with me (as well as a few grocery items). I actually selected the London sausage by mistake, meaning to have got the Lincolnshire, which I have had before, but it was still really tasty.

Looking forward to my next visit when back in Thailand and will probably check out the Lodge's brekky as well!

It was a great pick me up for my son after the new year. He was suffering a serious hangover until the breakfast. He wiped the floor with us afterwards in the fishing stakes

We are very fortunate in Thai in that both in jomtien(Yorkies) and here excellent British type b'fast items are available.
In China, Korea and Japan it was not as easy to find.

The last breakfast I had in the UK (some years ago) was:

Bacon
Sausage
Eggs
Tomatoes
Mushrooms
Baked beans
Hash Browns
Black Pudding
White Pudding
Toast (jam, butter, marmalade)
Coffee

That was £4.95 (shows how long ago)

There are places here that are getting close...
