Letter from US Embassy for proof of income
Letter from US Embassy for proof of income
I was on the Bangkok, US Embassy website and noticed that they have a blank Affidavit Form and an electronic form that you complete and they Notarize your signature. This is for the purpose of Extending stay on the basis of retirement.

Has anyone used the US Embassy and I wonder if there are any advantages?

Yes the form on their website it to obtain an extension of a o and a visa based on monthly income of at least 65,000 baht. Call the make an appointment via the website and show up with 1500 baht to get the notarized copy to include with your application at the immigration office..
Re: Letter from US Embassy for proof of income
The US Embassy don't require any proof of your income whereas the Brit Emb do. US Emb is also cheaper.
However, whilst I don't kmow the ins and outs of the US emb, I would very much doubt that they'd provide this service for anyone except US nationals. In fact the link says so on the second para.

It does say for US Passport Holders only. This just allows US Citizens to access the form to complete and take with them to the embassy. It will save a little time and shows what info they are expecting. DO NOT SIGN the form. You do sign the form in the presence of the Notary while at the embassy.

Surely if you have a British passport you go to the British Embassy, and a USA passport the USA Embassy etc etc

Re: Letter from US Embassy for proof of income
Part of this thread indicated that the US Embassy does not require proof of income??? They require a copy of your Social Security income statement, military pension or other documented income source in order to obtain the income letter. I used my military pension statement obtained from the DFAS.gov web site and my brother used the SSA proof of income statement obtained on SSA.Gov. State or other pension evidence with some sort of official document needs to be presented to embassy personnel to obtain the letter.
Re: Letter from US Embassy for proof of income
I thought you just signed an affidavit in most cases. Just fill in the amount of income you attest to, sign and away you go. Certainly seems to be the case from the blank form the Embassy supply on the link.
There was, however, some kerfuffle with this system a while ago and Americans applying for extensions to some Imm offices were being asked for additional evidence of income to back the affidavit up - Imm can always ask for extra paperwork from anyone. Maybe things have tightened up at the embassy?

Surely the name of the ACS unit which does the Proof of Income Letter says it all.
It is the American Citizen Services.

Re: Letter from US Embassy for proof of income
I have renewed my annual OA (retirement visa) 9 times here and have never been asked for any proof of income by either the U.S. Embassy personnel or Hua Hin Immigration.Part of this thread indicated that the US Embassy does not require proof of income??? Is this new, or did you just present the proof without being asked for it?

Re: Letter from US Embassy for proof of income
Gone to US embassy many times for income letter. Never asked for proof.
At Hua Hin and Bangkok immigration they have always accepted the letter as proof with nothing else needed.

Re: Letter from US Embassy for proof of income
This year I went to Thai immigrations with my proof of income letter(US) the officer asked for proof. I told him I didn't have any with me and he said "well I did it for last year so I will do it again". Maybe something is changing

Sorry but incredibly incorrect. The embassy requires nothing.
It is a notarized statement of income and not "proof" of anything. You pay the fee, declare whatever you want, sign you name, and the embassy notarizes it for you. Then it is on you to defend what you have declared should an Immi officer ask for more.
I suppose that has happened but since they have little chance of understanding a foreign financial statement of any kind the chances of such to happen are probably pretty small.
