how long on death row will they spend

Post by jambo »

it looks like the goverment mean buisness with the thai fishermen in the ms horton case
apparently they will be in court today and looks like they are looking for a very quick trial date
the pm mr t has asked (or instructed) for the death sentence to be enforced if found guilty :guns:

my question is how long to the thai prisons ( probably bang kwan ) hold a prisoner on death row before the lethel injection?
sorry if this question sound a bit morbid but would like to know the bm`s opinion
thanks

It can be a number of years in many instances. I've got the BBC video of the documentary made on Bang Kwang and they talked about it then.
There are appeals to at least one Appelate court and then one last one - can't remember where that went.
Not so sure it'll be quite the same in this case though.

I have read that these 2 have pleaded guilty and confessed.

I remember reading somewhere that if you co-operate and plead guilty the death sentance is reduced to life.

Anyone know if this is the case.

Mike.

I trully hope that these sick f**** get away with nothing else than death, injection is to painless, throwing them in a pit of wild boars would be more what they deserve. Same as Tobys killers.

mike i have also read somthing along them lines somewher
but my thinking as this case might differ a little with the pm stating they should be executed
what mr t wants mr t usually gets
personaly i think life in bang kwan would be a worse punishment than the death penalty
after reading the warren fellows biography the damage is done that is one of the places in the whole world i would not like to go
allthough in febuary of 05 i did get the chance to go and jumped at it of course this was not for a misdermeanna on my part or for a prisoners visit
a guy i know who lives in pattaya is a fighter and arranged some telivised fights inside the prison
if you ever get the chance to do this jump at it
the chance of going inside the big tiger and walking out a free man will not come along to often
and will be one of the things i have done in los that i will remember all my life
going back to the thread let these two scum bags rot in there for a very very long time
who else thinks the life sentence will be more of a punishment than a leathel injection?
i am not really up on the budist way of thinking there is some belive i understand that people of these sort of crime a reincarneted as somthing real bad
any examples of these will also be appretiated
im sure there will be some amusing answer to this question
lets not forget the trajerdey of the circumstances
but sure light hearted veiws will be taken with a pince of salt im sure

They said on tv now, that a British woman who was raped 3 months ago on Samui, has identified the perpetrators.
She saw the pictures of the 2 fishermen in a newspaper, recognized them, and made a call to the Bangkok Embassy to inform the authorities.
If true, 2 rapes and one murder case awaits them.
I intend to live forever - so far so good.

I hope they're really the guilty ones - the story seems a bit odd? Swin to shore on oil drums? Heard watching porno movies 200 yards from the shore?

Oh well, stranger things have happened.

the police tryed to make the 2 fishermen do a reenactment of what happened to make there case more stable
crowds broke past the police and reportedly punched the offenders i think this was both thai/falang
another report says they was waiving and carrying wooden clubs
the local buisness owners are said to be extreamley unhappy as this will affect tourisum
the court hearing even had to take place away from koh samui to settle the unrest

I saw a BBC documentary about Bang Kwang prison about 6 months ago. It was predictably called something like 'Inside the Bangkok Hilton.' For the westerners (who all seemed utterly desperate) I am sure that it is hell but for the Thai inmates, well I'm not so sure. Hard ceramic floors, spartan and fairly clinical cells, concrete walls, no furniture, nothing to do but sleep all day, little air movement, nothing but rice to eat at breakfast, noon and night, very little money for luxuries and compliance & conformity underpinned by a strong social hierarchy. In short a communal version of almost every rural Thai home I have visited!

Is this view too cynical?

I don't know if the view is too cynical, but I must say that I have visited rural Thai homes that looks bad from the outside, but sort of cozy inside.
No furnitures as we are used to, but bamboo mats covering the floor and pictures on the walls. Poor homes, but nevertheless cozy and clean.
"Strong social hierarchy"; yes. The old women!!!
Beware of them!!

I watched the same BBC documentary and the interviews they had with some of the inmates. If you are sentenced to 50 years behind bars, then you get out after serving 50 years . No mercy.

I have never been inside a rural or urban working class Thai home that I would describe as anywhere near cosy. Not for my soft arse anyway.
