Hi Guys,
I am really struggling to get an answer to my query. (Or rather to get a consistent answer.....!)
I currently have a 1 year Non-Immigrant O type multi entry visa issued from GB and was interested in upgrading to a retirement type visa, (whereby I do not have to leave the country every 90 days, just show my face at immigration).
Can I do this in Hua Hin please and what will I need to do this? I have brought all my documents from GB, (pensions, health, police check etc).
Cheers
Conversion of 1 year Non O to retirement type visa
Re: Conversion of 1 year Non O to retirement type visa
It's pretty easy.
First off, you can apply within the last 30 days of any 90 day entry.
When at Imm, you'll need:
Yourself
Your passport
Form TM 7 filled in - these can be got at Imm
Passport photo
Proof of income, savings or combination of the two.
a) Income needs to be 65k THB a month min and you'll need a letter from the UK Embassy evidencing that. You can apply by post for the letter, it's easy and we can advise more in due course or look at their web site which explains things.
b) Savings need to be over 800k THB and in a Thai bank account. You'll need a letter from the bank together with your passbook showing this and the two figures should not be different.
c) Combination of income and savings as long as the total comes to more than 800k for the year.
A hand drawn map of where you're staying - sometimes asked for, sometimes not.
1,900 THB
A copy of the details page of your passport together with copies of your departure card and visa.
That should do it. All being well, you'll get your extension there and then and will only need to report every 90 days.
No need for police and health reports.
If you're likely to be leaving the country during the year, get a re-entry permit that keeps your extension alive. 1,000 for single re-entry, 3,800 for multiple.
Yes you do it in HH if you're living here

Re: Conversion of 1 year Non O to retirement type visa
Thanks so much for the detailed reply. It doesnt look too bad.
I have a monthly pension that exceeds the minimum criteria so all I need to do is get it certified by embassy via post. If you could give me details it would be greatly appreciated.
Finally, just to confirm, as per below, I do not need to be on a blue residency book or anything yeah? ( I don't even need a letter of residency?)
Thanks again and best regards
Chris
