That's about right. Cetainly speeding convictions are meant to come off the central police comuter after 3 years - 5 if the traffic offence results in a ban. Just accept it, you can't challenge it, its not worth the stress.
You just have to look at the fact that the prosecution can bring up instances of "previous bad character" now during a trial. Previously, this was not permitted unless the defence was painting the defendant whiter than white - then the prosecution could rebut. (English law).
