I have a friend coming for a golfing trip--he asked me if the ferry service HH to and from Patts is reliable. As there has not been a post on this topic for several months I thought I'd better ask.

I have done it a couple of times and never had an issue. Great service and a change from the roads.
The only issue I believe is when there are storms etc.
Best to not book too far in advance and check the weather.

It's that threat of rough weather that puts me off (it actually doesn't have to be that rough). Because the bus leaves before the ferry, bad weather would result in either catching a taxi or another night in a hotel.

Then there's the no refund issue.

Yea........what BB said. Although, I have no desire to go to Patts. But if playing tourist or local Patts expat, then I'd self drive for peace of mind.

Or well planned weather week. The gulf can be a bit finicky and it doesn't seem to take much for a cancellation. I would think, any small craft warning, which it is not, would be a good excuse to cancel, especially if the bookings for the day doesn't justify the cost of operating.

Anybody knows if the Hua Hin - Pattaya ferry is affected by this [the weather] ? Or is it going as normal?

If you go to their homepage below you should see an announcement that the ferry is not operating December 6 & 7 due to rough seas.

Suggest you check their site day by day for any updates.

Ferry to Pattaya

Post by fabman »

Apologies if this has been covered recently

But is the Ferry to Pattaya service likely to be suspended at this time of year, due to the windy conditions ? Can you get a refund if it is?

Do they have an official website?

I would like to go on the Ferry for a change, instead of using the bus.

    Thanks

Don't book/pay until your day of travel (their stated refund policy used to be very one sided on their side), and be aware if the ferry doesn't sail, the bus will already have departed. So any weather doubts, play safe and catch the bus.

Item 12, bullet 1 is a change to what it used to say, so a common sense improvement to a clause that has kept me and a few of my visitors off the ferry.

Item 12, bullet 2 is still worrying for passengers paying cash, and will have left the country within 15 days.

      Just my opinion, of course.

Bullet one says "during monsoon". What about the rest of the year I wonder?

I don't think they're using the term in the sense of a season, but a condition, i.e. storms.
