Sorry for your loss Pete when i was a kid we had two golden retrievers so I know how gentle they are and very much part of the family.
They would always have a bold patch on their front leg joint where they would just flop down at your feet and fall to sleep.
Both dogs didn't have long lives Duke was nine and Baron was four both died from tumours that we had removed but they come back.
Loosing two dogs so prematurely was very upsetting and my Dad made the dissision not to have anymore pets.
Maybe it could be a good idea to get a nice photo of the pet put on to a canvas so you can remember and deal with the greaving process.
Is Bangkok a place or a nasty injury.......Eric Morcombe.

Sorry for your loss Pete. We lost a 10 year old raised from a pup in our last year over there and I still miss him so I know a little about what you are going through.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

So sorry to hear this Pete - it's a really tough time, I know. But you did all you could for them and they know that. Many condolences to your family.

Yes, thanks for that poem. It set my recovery back a bit this morning when reading it, but it's too good not to read and save. In fact, I believe my daughter is using it in her English class today as they are studying different forms of poetry. I hope she can get through it dry eyed.

I had to put my beloved "Bob The Dog" to sleep this afternoon. I was with him at the time, but sadly the LHG is in China with her mother, so couldn't be there.

Bob gave us 19 wonderful years and literally saved my life whilst working and living in China. I know he's no longer going to suffer from pain, but I'm already missing a dear, dear friend and always will.

Jesus, these buggers break your heart!

19 years...??? I'm honestly not sure whether that makes things better or worse. Either way, sincere condolences.

He certainly had a good innings. TBH things took a turn for the worse very quickly and honestly feel he was only suffering for the last day. The vets were wonderful and very caring - he was out of pain and put to sleep very quickly.

Being a sad tw@t, I've asked for his ashes so I can take them to his favorite spot....

Nah, nothing twattish about that :) - I was pretty devasted to lose my dogs after 3-8 years, I can't begin to imagine what 19 years must be like. Well, I can, but I don't want to... Big hugs, mate.
