Ok, now for the return leg. Taking advice, and having experience from KLIA2 before, we decided to take no chances and get there early (2.5 hours before departure). Tried the auto check in machines, of which there are many, but they wouldn't read my passport - no problem scanning Thai passports. Into the queue then, not bad only 15 minutes or so to wait.

Sailed through immigration, nobody there at 8am Monday morning. The onto security which was also painless. The big problem with KLIA2 is that there are two security checks so you can't buy anything liquid until you've gone through the second one. Once you go through the second one there is very little to do and only two shops, one liquor and one horrendously expensive chocolates (Hua Hin departed from gate L10).

The plane departed on time at 10.05 and journey went smoothly. Only had carry on luggage and our bags were not weighed at any time. The plane was full, estimation of passenger breakdown; 60% Chinese, 30% Malay/Singapore, 10% Farang.

Advice: try to get a seat near the front or back of the aircraft, and get off quick because nearly everyone on the flight has to go through foreigner immigration at Hua Hin airport which takes ages. I was lucky and got in quick, those at the back of the line would have had at least an hour wait as there are only three desks and they took their time stamping people in.

All in all a pleasant experience and a great way to get to KL quickly without the hassle of Bangkok.

I didn't see one, only the checkin counters.

There is certainly an AA office in the terminal building (on the left as you enter) but don't know if they sell tickets.

I flew the route earlier this month and here are my observations.

Check in at HH was quick and easy.

We weren't sure if we could park our motorbike in the airport car park overnight so decided to ask at the information desk. They have a system..they fill in a form with your bike number plate, charge is 100 baht per night (receipt issued) and they hold your keys until you return.

Flight to KLIA2 was quick and pleasant.

On arrival we used the Ekspres train to get to KLCC. Cost was approx 500 baht each way and we prebooked online. It takes 33 minutes and is non stop.

Due to logistics on the return leg we took a GRAB taxi from our hotel back to KLIA2. Cost was 65 M ringit. We were picked up at 6.30am and journey took 50 minutes. Driver said if we left at 7am there might be a risk of heavy traffic.

Check in, passport control and security were quiet and we were through them all in about 10 mins.

Overall a very pleasant experience.

Ps. Both flights are teetotal.

It is strange that the train tickets for 2 persons are more expensive than a taxi.

Is this new? I've left my car there a few times, and just parked it, as directed by a security guard the first time I used it. I've just parked it ever since. I've not used it since Air Asia took over, so would be nice to know.

Hi All
just returned from another KL trip.
It appears things are getting smoother at Hua Hin Airport. Fast check in, easy boarding and still fairly well used. On the return the TM 6 was handed out on the plane, not at the arrival hall as my last trip, 4 desks working but the advice to sit at front or back to access immigration quicker still stands.
Klia2 its usual mad house feeling but not as bad as returning after Hari Raya, Quite a few self check in machines not working and out of luggage labels.
Plane from KL full as there are holidays in Malaysia currently, also a very large party of golfers saw at least 10 sets of clubs come off before we left and 3 minivans from golf tours outside.
We hope this keeps running and the numbers I have seen would contribute to that.

Very strange:
If i book a flight to KL and retour (31.5. to 11.6.) I pay 1330 BHT plus 1226 BHT. If I book two one-way flights, I pay 1330 BHT plus 593 BHT. Most airlines charge less for a return flight, but not Air Asia.
