ALL foreigners to be tracked and monitored by Thai military

Thailand’s military is making plans to monitor the movements of ALL foreigners in the country.

A computer database is being developed to store information about foreigners to help authorities keep track of them while they are in Thailand, defense spokesman Kong­cheep Tantravanich admitted.

Tourists, investors and migrant workers are the core groups Thai security authorities want to better monitor with the help of the new database system, Lt Gen Kongcheep said.

Oh not that old potato. I think the last time this came up was to issue wristbands and special sim cards which can be tracked.

They start to put physical tags or tracking devices on investors, they won't have investors.

I notice they don't mention retirees. I guess we're already tracked enough.

If it comes to pass, I'm on a plane to LA to put an ear tag on every Thai non-citizen I can find, and there are many thousands of them there. That would make news wouldn't it, and they would probably blame it on Trump's immigration policies. I would get away scot free.

I personally would just forget about this story. It's just the ministry of silly ideas trying to look important again. However, this is what you start to get when small minded people find themselves in power and there is no civilian oversight. Pete

Even if the news item is real, even if they really intend to do it, good old-fashioned Thai incompetence will turn it into a farce.
