PRACHUAP KHIRI KHAN: A Swiss man was found dead in a ravine in Hua Hin, a well-known seaside resort town of this lower Central province, on Saturday night, police said.

The body was recovered at about 8.20pm after monks from Wat Khao Sanamchai informed the police that they sensed a strong bad smell spreading all over the area near the temple during the past few days.

In a search, a team of police and rescuers from a local charity foundation found the swelling body of the man lying face up in a bamboo forest in the ravine. He was believed to have died several days ago.

The man was later identified as Philipp Leonhard Halter, 58, a Swiss national. The rescuers spent more than two hours to move the body out of the bamboo forest.

Several days earlier, Wilawan Warachina, 42, the Thai wife of the Swiss man, filed a complaint with Hua Hin police, saying that her husband had disappeared from their house in Soi Hua Hin 102 after leaving on a white Yamaha Filano motorcycle. She said her husband was suffering from depression.

The police also found the motorcycle of the Swiss man on top of a hill overlooking the ravine.
It was initially believed that the man had driven up the hill for a routine sightseeing round and might have accidentally slipped and fell from the hilltop down the ravine, about 20-30 metres below.

The body had been sent to the Forensic Medicine Institute for examination.
May you be in heaven half an hour before the devil know`s you`re dead!

I guess the words--the wife said that he was suffering from depression grabbed my attention.
