Loy Krathong Hua Hin 2019

Post by Ginjaninja »

I believe Loy Krathong is on Monday (11th Nov) this year.
Does anyone have any recommendations?
My folks are over on holiday.

I was thinking of starting a thread with LK events - I'll list them here later this evening. Others will have to make the recommendations though.

Where the poster doesn't have the event location, I've added it in the description below the poster.

This one is for the more traditional celebration, highlighting what is going on around Hua Hin.

The Thai script that surrounds it mentions:
  • Floating your Krathong in the canal
  • Floating your Krathong at Queens Park (Soi 19)
  • Floating your Krathong at Khao Tao (probably the most picturesque, but traffic and parking is always a pig)

There is usually a parade through town, but I was really disappointed last time. 1 very poor float - definitely not worth waiting for.

Having said that, other years have been brilliant.

Personally, we tend to go to one of the little lakes between Soi 102 and Soi 112 these days, float our boats and find a restaurant somewhere.

I think you must have missed the main part BB. We went to Queen's Park 19 Rai and there were quite a few elaborate floats just arriving when we got there just after 8pm.

Really? We were actually disgusted with what we saw. Other years have been fantastic, and it was quite shocking what it had been downgraded to, We, along with thousands of others were waiting on the advertised route - TIT, I guess.

The Loy Krathong Parade has been advertised as running from Pone King Petch Park to the Clock Tower from 16:30 to 18:00. This is the original route when they used to have a half decent parade. However, the times were always advertised as per this year, but in reality, they always waited until it got dark before setting off, so arrival at 16:30 could be dubious.

The poster says that the float procession will be at 17.30 starting at the highways department offices and proceed along Petchkasem to the clock tower.

The highways department offices are near soi 68 and soi 53 on Petchkasem.

Edit: Sorry the picture wasn't included, but it's easily seen in the post earlier in the thread.

I think this is not the parade that includes floats.

Probably see both if you're at the clock tower around 6pm.
