Off topic, but I've just noticed PeteC's rank. I don't think I've seen a Golden Chili before.

The water level in the lake is down by approx 1M but not the same level across the lake. The southern end is at 15-20cm at the edge but more so on the northern and western sides. You have to wonder what they are doing ? Also the water is no longer flowing to the fishing village and likely to get stinky very soon....

I don't think this will be too much of a problem i.e. the sluice gates are open, and as soon as it rains the water will flow through, albeit it won't appear as the 2 thundering waterfalls we are used to. When we had the really heavy showers a week or so ago, the levels in the lake did rise a couple of inches, but the open sluice gates had soon let it settle back down to the extremely low levels we regularly see now.

I was away for a few days, and when I returned to the lake yesterday, the had been busy in my absence.

The lower level rebar cages and temporary formwork which had long upright rebar cages growing out of them have had the concrete poured.

I still can't see what it is yet.

I still can't see what it is yet, but progress is rapid. The main deck is being laid, and there's a hefty ramp leading up to it. Access may actually be wheelchair friendly - all they need to do now is make access to the path that goes around the lake wheelchair friendly. There is a ramp to the path at the opposite end of the lake, but that is permanently bollarded off making it wheelchair unfriendly. TIT

It looks as though the upper building will be pr-fabricated, with a lot of panels sitting in top of the upper platform.

Still can't see what it is yet.

I forgot to mention that we drove past it last weekend, pulled over, and my other half asked a couple of workman what it was going to be, and they said they didn't know!!!

I reckon it's going to be the new base for the Thai secret service!

Yes, exactly the same response we've always had. Well. that is a lie, one did say they were building a bridge.

I've still not heard anything better than a museum/cafe.

Maybe the prefabricated parts have arrived without the put it together leaflet Or maybe they're holding the drawing upside down. Don't forget, they've already had to take it all apart once, and re-do their work.

One very noticeable difference now is water levels in the lake have returned to normal.

I was watching them today. Not pre-fabricated walls. Those large concrete panels are basically giant floor tiles. They have a large frame that they are using to lift the slabs, and move them into place.

I saw this interesting aerial view of the construction on this month's Hua Hin Rail Project video. It makes a lot more sense what they are doing now.

If you think back, they were adding concrete boxes near to the tops of the original piles. I can see now that these were supports for the concrete floor tiles that are being gradually lifted into place.

Being a Monday morning mood, perhaps just another stupid boondoggle by some greedy official who thought a good idea to fill up a scenic lake with construction instead of the empty land around the lake,.

Yes, definite similarities. The difference being the size of floor tile (tile being my non-tech name). The tiles at the lake are one tile per hole, supported on 4 corners, so I would presume your tiles being smaller, and fully supported on 2 sides would be stronger,
