Yes, of course, and I'm finding it very interesting watching the project grow. I'm sure the penny will drop with my non-tech brain at some stage, but I'm still totally baffled at the moment.

Let's see if any pipe work is placed in the platform before concreting.

The platform could be the base of a new structure such as a water tank? There are unconcreted columns which suggests the platform will have a roof.

The mystery deepens. The rebar cages and the temporary formwork are all being removed without any work having been done. Is this normal, or has somebody cocked up big time?

Perhaps now that Thaksin is in the hospital there is no need for cages.

That isn't half of the cages that have been removed.

If you look closely there are a number of similar items left hanging from the scaffolding, I count at least 5. They look like some sort of template or built in cover or similar and not all are the same.

Yes, I deliberately made sure they were in shot. However, they don't look as if they serve any purpose. More like the formwork fell to pieces (another technical term ) whilst being removed.

They mystery lifts a little. They've dropped the level of the lake a few inches more, and are building little platforms on which to sit the rebar cages and temporary formwork. I'm guessing there was either slippage, or the concrete was just falling out of the bottom

As I suggested, "somebody cocked up big time."

The lower level rebar cages and temporary formwork are gradually being reinstated, and now have long upright rebar cages growing out of them (not in photo). Strange, but they decapitated the piles and now seem to be growing their own uprights. The large area I highlighted as ready to start pouring concrete has had concrete poured today, and also has several long upright rebar cages growing.

I still can't see what it is yet.

I think that's the way they built Venice. :duck:

The advantage of Khao Tao Lake is they can open the sluice gates, and lower the water levels until they've finished - they couldn't do that in Venice :D. It's absolutely brilliant for watching the wildlife because there are now muddy banks where the various creatures can lay, and the water level in the lake is so low, we watch wading birds walking around the middle of the lake. I'd guess the many fish are getting claustrophobic.
