Flights to/from Hua Hin Airport & other domestic locations
Re: Flights to/from Hua Hin Airport & other domestic locations
I see that the BP is talking about Hua Hin airport again today and mentioning international flights.

As usual for the BP some information is doubtful or confusing. They must have had a licence for international flights when the KL ones were running so one would assume an approval is in place. The ‘30,000’ private jets a year claim seems a tad inflated. An average of 2,500 ‘jets’ a month or over 80 a day. Probably just planes and the majority training flights.
The expansion would make a lot if people happy but probably not those owning property in the area.

That old chestnut - it must be a slow news day, so they've dragged that story out of the archives. How many more false promises

Re: Flights to/from Hua Hin Airport & other domestic locations
When I see the title I don't bother to read the article which, as usual, must be full of nonsense talk
Re: Flights to/from Hua Hin Airport & other domestic locations
I usually read, just in case there's something new, but there rarely is.

Maybe the 600 day airport project duration is timed to coincide with the opening of the second railway track, the progress on which which seems to have reduced to a crawl...!

Re: Flights to/from Hua Hin Airport & other domestic locations
Hua Hin airport seems to be trapped in some kind of 'pause' setting'..It is no busier now than it was 20+ years ago.
Back then (as I've posted on here before) the regular Bangkok Airways flight from BKK to Samui via H.H. was a gem..BUT..H.H. airport bumped up it's landing fees to the extent that B.A. said F.you & flew straight over H.H. (never to return). Now I've read recently that C.Mai airport is seeking the green light for expansion..That'll never happen down here..It's almost like H.H. airport wants to exist, but without any flights.
As for the new train station..Please don't get ne going on that farce..I've never seen more than 10 workmen there in months now, & Friday afternoons the workforce can be almost zero!
(Let's paint the new station, so it's pretty & will look almost complete..but work on the new line at Khao Takiap end of H.H. is just a pile of gravel).
Been seeing my friend's photos of their holiday in Vietnam..sleek trains, running on time, nice cabins..As usual Thailand promises, but hardly ever delivers...TiT. (Rant over..555)

Re: Flights to/from Hua Hin Airport & other domestic locations
I agree 110% on Hua Hin Airport. We get a lot of promises, but rarely does anything get delivered. When it does get delivered, it is often short lived.
I've travelled the Chiang Mai Route with a couple of different airlines, and it's always been well supported. That tells me other domestic routes might be well supported as well. Even when I flew to BKK the plane was full. Surely somebody could try the likes of Phuket and Samui. I've caught the little sprinter train that goes South at about 11:30 each day. It get full with people travelling to Chumpon to get the ferry to Samui. The Lompraya buses are also well supported. So much easier if there was a flight. Even if seasonal, flights to these places must be worth a punt.

OMG, I see they are reducing the Chiang Mai flights to twice weekly until at least end March 2024. It's high season, so the halve they number of flights - TIT

Re: Flights to/from Hua Hin Airport & other domestic locations
Its all to do with the wave off's you get leaving HH
they are all exhausted.
they are all exhausted.
Re: Flights to/from Hua Hin Airport & other domestic locations
Maybe they haven't got that many passengers, by reducing the amounts of flights they'll be sure to fill the planes
Re: Flights to/from Hua Hin Airport & other domestic locations
I'm not a regular user, but when I've used the service there have been no empty seats. By reducing the frequency, it becomes a non-starter for me. If I were to use it now, at least one leg would have to be via Bangkok.
I've talked to others who use the flight more frequently, and they say always at least 80% full.

It was the same with the HH to KL flights, always full yet they dropped the route. Maybe airlines operate on a different logic set to the rest of us.
