Switching from Windows to Google o/s

I have a fairly new Lenovo 14 inch ideapad laptop. I have become so agitated with Windows I'm thinking of switching to a Chrome O/S. Does anyone know if I can do that without changing computers?

It can be done but not with the crome OS, that is not available for download. There is however an OS called Neverware's Cloudready Chromium OS which is almost the same as Chrome. You can find all the information on internet.

Chromium OS has a few differences to chrome os. The main ones are inability to access the play store and run Android apps; and no automatic update service. IIRC from when I tried it earlier this year.

Thanks for the replies guys. Harry and HHinner; Chromium OS sounds like exactly what I would like; don't use play anything, no apps to speak of and I hate Auto updates. (what does IIRC mean?)

I've got Win 8 on the wife's machine, and she hardly ever uses it. I use a kid at Advance in Cha Am, but other than fixing whatever goes wrong with Windows he can't help much, and he says he can't get Win 7 or 8 any more and for sure not for this computer.

Duh, Win 8 is the worst of all but Win 7 is fine. Win 10 came out about a decade ago so a young fella may not be familiar with earlier versions. Win 7 trial setup can be downloaded (can be activated), also product/OEM etc. DVDs and USB sticks are available at low cost from Lazada, Ebay and other sources.
It would help telling more about the laptop and then checking the Lenovo site for drivers:

You don't want Win 8. When I bought my dell laptop it came with Win 8. After 30 aggravating days, I had it replaced with Win 7. That was in 2022. I'm still using the same Dell laptop with Win 7 and have had no problems. I turned off the updates 5 yrs. ago. I have a firewall and CC Cleaner and have never had a problem. Also, if any hacker looked at my computer he would find nothing of value or use on it.

I've decided to get a ChromeBook. I was kind of waffling because I just bought this computer last June, and I felt kind of bad to be wanting to get rid of it........then a while ago I was in the wife's sewing room where she keeps my old one from 2019......and I started playing around with it reading FaceBook......I couldn't believe how slow it was compared to mine....so now she'll get mine and anyone who has a kid or wife that needs a computer let me know. They can have the slow one for their starter computer.

There are many ways to speed a computer up. If Facebook is slow then it is normally an internet problem so you will have the same problem with a Chromebook. You need to measure the speed of your internet with the server you are actually using as IP (i.e. if you are using a VPN then it is no use measuring the speed between your PC and 3BB or whatever, you have to measure the speed between your PC and the country you are connected to).

I don’t think that’s necessarily correct - I have an old windows 7 based machine with an old type hard drive which I rarely use, but when I do, it’s painfully slow, whereas my newish laptop with a SSD drive is by comparison, lightning fast and of course they're using the same internet.
