A New Word
I just learned a new word, that describes the last 4 yrs. in the US; Kakistocracy.
Webster's dictionary defines the word as; Government by the worst people.

Re: A New Word
I prefer 'cockwomble' which describes the person rather than the whole government:
(noun) A person, usually male, prone to making outrageously stupid statements and/or inappropriate behaviour while generally having a very high opinion of their own wisdom and importance.

Re: A New Word
So the last 4 yrs in the US has been a Kakistocracy led by cockwomble. Sounds accurate.
Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.

It's either that or Fat Donnie attempting rape in a department store dressing room, Slick Willy getting head in a White House Closet, JFK porking movie stars, FDR getting his one working member massaged by his secretary and various members of both parties involved in everything from hiring prostitutes to soliciting members of the same sex in toilets.
if you're looking for morality in politicians, you're going to be perennially disappointed.

Apparently Jeremy Corbyn is amongst their number: why doesn't that surprise me?

I once translated a website for a French company that manufactured cast iron manhole covers, drain covers and the like. It was excruciating, but at the same time quite entertaining. And it was certainly educational: for about a week I knew everything there was to know about manholes... But then the information sort of... drained away.Drain-spotting: The people who keep their minds in the gutter
Tour guides usually urge people to "look up!" when exploring a city, but a downwards glance can also offer portals into the unknown. Like bellybutton piercings of the streets, the gleam of these cast-iron discs are little glimpses of jewellery not usually seen.
Manhole covers, coalhole covers and drain covers all offer access to an underground world that, if not exactly thrilling, is at least full of artistry, history and in many cases, beauty.
Dr Shepherd Thomas Taylor, who studied medicine in 1860s London, is the first person known to have captured their charm.
Having a poetic turn of phrase and being handy with a sketching pencil, the doctor described "these discs and squares" as "like abstract flowers in an otherwise arid field, bringing a note of flippant gaiety into the often depressing city surroundings".
This is the way

Indeed. A brave member of a train union recently called out such archaic language being used willy nilly on a train. "Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls...". What!? How dare they! LNE railway rightly apologised for their reckless behaviour.pharvey wrote: βSat May 15, 2021 8:50 pmOh I'm sorry, but in these days of equality, that's classed as sexist and the term is now "Access hole chamber covers".... Thing is, young Laurence here seemed fine to use such language when it suited him, as seen in a previous tweet...
