Tennis US Open (2021)

Post by Lost »

Sorry, I'm a little obsessed with this young lady. Purely because of her tennis abilities, mind.

British teenager Emma Raducanu has reached the last 16 in her first appearance in the US open. This girl's going to be #1 one day, I'm sure of it. Her next match may well be against the current #1 Ashleigh Barty.

I don't trust children. They're here to replace us.

Ah yes, the British teenager born in Canada to a Romanian father and Chinese mother... :)

In all seriousness though, watched the match purely as I was with my mother who is a die hard tennis fan - Raducanu was superb and a break point away from taking the match 6-0 6-0. Like Lost, I can see her being #1 if she continues in this vein.

Due to play Shelby Rogers (US) in the "Round of 16" - stands a very good chance.

Yep, she's as British as errrm..Greg Rusedski, Zola Budd.

Just hope the tabloids aren't building her up too much. British until she loses. Hope the hypocritical bigots leave her alone on social media.

Well Shelby Rodgers, the girl who beat world #1 Ashleigh Barty, got demolished my Emma 6-2 6-1.

Into the quarter finals. Could she actually win the thing on her first attempt?

Come on, Emma!

Didn't manage to see the match, but watched the hilights - and plenty there were! Another massive display from Emma. She does now have to play the "Olympic Champion" in the quarters - but, by Christ she hasn't done badly so far has she!!

On a sad note though, some sh*tty "Reader's Comments" in the likes of the Daily Fail - "Immigrant", "Never visited the UK prior to Wimbledon", "Doesn't deserve the money" etc., etc. sad tw@ts :banghead: - Yeah, I joked about it, but let's be fair she was two years old when she moved to Britain, sure she feels British as well as being proud of her Chinese and Romanian heritage. .... Our international Rugby players for example qualify after three years residency!

Good luck to the girl, I'm enjoying tennis again :thumb:

Well, Emma shall be on at 5pm today (UK) - I shall give it a watch and keep my fingers crossed. :thumb:

On Amazon Prime in the UK - 30 day free subscription available, and I would have thought available in Thailand/elsewhere through a VPN?

Yes, I've been using streaming sites to watch so far with varying results. Have signed up for the free trial today (would have done before if I knew :banghead: ) so I don't get any interruptions!

Here's hoping for a good result!

Glad you got Prime in the end - some good series/movies on there also (you might even catch some rugby! )

As for hoping for a good result - you and me both mate. Though the LHG seems to think I'm watching tennis for ulterior motives.... Can't understand what she's implying  :D

Here we go then. Players out on the court for the warm-up. Can the underdog pull off another huge upset?
