90 day reporting
90 day reporting
There appears to be some confusion regarding the 90 day reporting period after obtaining a new visa. My passport had a paper clipped to it indicating 90 days from the visa issue. My friend was told to report 90 days from his last report. Anybody had any problems?

Its 90 days from your last report, but if it is a new visa you wont have done it yet so it'll be 90 days from then.
It actually gives you the date on the slip they attach to your passport. You get a few days grace but I wouldn't advise being late, its a 2,000 baht fine and big black "violated Thai immigration law" stamp in your passport which is far more iritating.

My 2 bahts worth, seeing as no one replied to my original post.
I'm here on a "marriage visa" (taking care of a few dozen lazy Thai's.)
I re-applied for my visa on the 8th of May (the day it expired) after several visits (three) I was issued with my new visa which expires on the 21st of May 2007. My notification expires on the 5th of August which will be a Saturday. I will have to take my arse to Huahin on the Friday (hopefully not a holiday.)
I hope this clears things up?

No Imm on Sat
Sorry to break your dreams, guys, but Immigration is no longer open on Saturdays.
Yes, it was once but it is now strictly a Mon-Fri routine -- not including today, of course!

90 day
Hi Norseman, I do not think you can e-mail the form in but you can definetly send someone else in with it but it has to be accompanied by your passport so posting may be a bit dangerous. I was recently fined 2000 baht for registering late, not long only 3 months, but the sign on the desk I think says 5000 baht plus 200 baht each day. Guess what I shall make sure of in the future!
Thanks clive, that's what I thought.
I have, for some years now, brought my passport in person to the immigration office for another 90 days stamp.
Would have been nice though to fix this via e-mail.
This is actually no longer a problem as the office is situated here in Hua Hin.
Was a bit harder when we had to go to Sinkhon to sort it out.

I intend to live forever - so far so good.
Legal, Visa, Finances & Employment
Further to my earlier posting: I went for my 90 day renewal today. My 90 days was dated from the issue date of my retirement visa NOT 90 days from the previous reporting. The officer explained that some officers count 90 days from the visa issue date and others from the previous reporting. The date on the paper clipped into your passport is the one that should be used.

I'll claim ignorance on this one, as I've never had an extendable visa - at least for one year anyway.Huahinian wrote:Further to my earlier posting: I went for my 90 day renewal today. Surely if you come in on a Non Imm, of any sort, you can apply for a year's extension within the last 30 days of any entry on that visa.
Once the extension is granted, the date starts then.
That's the way I always thought it worked?
So, if you'd reported already, why does the visa matter any more? The visa's only to get you into the country. Once here, the imm officer's decision is the one that counts.
Maybe I'm reading your post wrong?
90 day reporting
Let me try to explain! I have had a retirement visa for 4 years and in that time I have not left the country. As the 90 day reporting, 4 times per year, is less than one year in total, it is necessary to report again before your visa expires. This year my visa was issued and a paper clipped to my passport told me to report today. 90 days from my previous reporting would have been 11 July. Confused? So am I!
