What are these seeds?
What are these seeds?
I have an overhanging tree in my house that is dropping these pods in the garden, anyone know what they are, are they dangerous to dogs? Of course I remove from the garden when i find them.
Re: What are these seeds?
I think it may be Tamarind, which is a Thai fruit that can be eaten. However, as many of these things are close to other things that you can't eat....get a Thai to confirm.
Google Tamarind and there are plenty of photos and descriptions. Below link are photos of a Tamarind tree and if your tree is like that, it would confirm.

Re: What are these seeds?
We used to have a tree close by. I got hooked on them. In Thai it's something like Makarm.
Bought many a bag from the stalls.

Re: What are these seeds?
In Thai this is makham thet (มะขามเทศ - foreign tamarind), not to be confused with normal tamarind - makham (มะขาม) .
Re: What are these seeds?
I have this tree in my garden. My other half hates the seeds, the weekly cleaner loves them! I bought the tree because it's an attractive tree with interesting growth, not because of the fruit.

I had that tree on my place on Saipan. Very nice to eat.
