Lawyer recomendation

Post by migrant »

Having a disagreement with the neighbors. I won't go into details but we are trying to settle amicably. All neighbors say we are in the right. The neighbor at odds is threatening to get a lawyer involved and is screaming, shouting, swearing at my wife (and probably me).

I'm not worried about the outcome but want to find a good, aggressive lawyer. In the states, in a situation like this, a aggressive lawyer can end things quickly in this situation but, TIT.

Hoping it won't get to this but they are aggressive to a fault and said some bad things to my wife so I want to shut it down quick if they get a lawyer.

Thanks!

Thanks, we used them when we bought our house but they missed some important things so not real hot with them. Thanks though

Keep away from lawyers in Thailand! It can cost you millions with a chance not far above zero of ever getting a result. Court cases can be continually be put back for three months for the slightest excuse (even toothache). Corruption always plays a roll on one side or the other (if not both) and even the judges are not 100% trustworthy. A friend of mine was involved in a case which he gave up after three years and several million baht. The judge told him he was right and would eventually win but said it could be many years and that he must be prepared to spend many millions of baht to get a result. In the end, who is right or wrong has nothing to do with it. The loser is the one whose money runs out first.

Thanks guys, I always try to stay away from lawyers when possible but if they get one I'm stuck. I believe that it is a frivolous suit, if they go through with it. Guys from the tessabahn were here and agreed so that's why I want an aggressive lawyer to shut it down quick.

Sorry to hear of this. You know who I use, but I would not say that he is "aggressive". After over 30 years of dealing with this stuffed up country, what I can say is that; no matter how well they may speak English, they will always be a Thai using Thai logic!

Older lawyers are, in my experince, much better regardless of speaking English, but speaking English should not be a consideration in your case?

The loser is the one whose money runs out first.
That is the only advice you need.

(.... and if the neighbour is a Thai ..... you must surely know how a screamy shouty one may react should he lose the case, and face, to a foreigner. )

Again, thanks all for the advice, I've read many horror stories about lawsuits in Thailand that is why I would avoid at any costs but, again, if they hire a lawyer I have no choice.

Just to give you some encouragement even though the details are completely different, some years ago my brother in law was in a relationship with a Thai woman and they had a child together. He bought a small house and put the chanute in his partners name and even though he physically held the Chanute, she managed to get it replaced giving false information. To cut a long story short, the relationship went sour and after quite a few years, he managed to get the property back through the courts, with the judge ruling in his favour, so it’s possible for farangs to win against Thais.

I can highly recommend the following lawyer after going through 4 others with the same issue. He studied and qualified in the UK so he does not have the normal Thai approach.
Mr. Chain Sirivai, 250/201, Room A204, Floor 2 G Hua Hin Resort & Mall, Soi 94 Phetkasem Road, Hua Hin, Prachuap Khirikhan, Thailand 77110
Phone: +66 (0) 61 949 5195
Email: Chain.srv@me.com or chain@rightlawoffice.com

Have your wife take the issue to your local puyai-baan. Let Thai people take care of a Thai problem.
