Hua Hin Traffic Gridlock

Around 4pm today Hua Hin seemed to be in almost gridlock

Around Soi 94, Phetkasem heading N(didn't notice S), back of MV...

I know 4pm is maybe the busiest time but I'm out at that time every other day and today was just nuts!

I wonder if the traffic was people returning north after the long weekend, using an extra day? I was out on my bike on Phetchkasem Rd about 1pm today and traffic northbound was quite heavy with a lot of Bangkok and other out of province plates.

As stated yes that's part of it, but today there were substantially more cars than normal.

Well either that or the traffic was not able to flow as per normal

Returning(to Bkk) traffic is a good possibility

It's been the same snarl-up each weekend as the BKK traffic heads home..Years ago I made a suggestion that there should be an elevated roadway right from Takiap end of town to the palace are where the Rd becomes 3 lanes wide..OR..shoehorn a new lane either side of the new railway's elevated pillars as it passes town..?

I couldn't guess at an explanation. As bad as I've ever seen it.
1.5 hours Soi 112 to Makro! That was avoiding Petchkasem. If I'd known I'd have gone over Hin Lek Fai (which I did on my return.)

A lot of schools started today. Salesian, a large school in the area mentioned got going today.

So I agree, it's the good old school run.

It was very odd.never seen it as bad in 17 years. Took 40 minutes from the soi 88 junction to drive along the road behind MV to get into MV. MV then had grid lock as people could t leave MV so people could t go round to get in or get out etc.


Girl when I was getting the card said it was Silesian
I don't know whether the police were trying a new queue arrangements for them (not the first time) but it was a disaster. First day back for Silesian so hopefully they sort out the issue.

As soon as they try any form of traffic control, gridlock follows. I've seen it time and time again around Hua Hin.

I saw a post on FB which mentioned an accident between a car and MC where both persons died near Hua Hin. Could this accident have been part of the problem maybe?

I had to go to the dentist at the time of the OP. I got the definite impression it was all of the schools chucking out at the same time. If the police were 'helping' with school crossings (as they do most mornings) you wouldn't need any other event to clog up Hua Hin's roads. It is unfortunate, but Hua Hin has too many schools along its main road.

Hopefully, as schools get back into routine, chucking out time will become naturally staggered.

1.5 hours is insane. I have to drive to Bangkok on Saturday afternoon and I am absolutely dreading it. I’m hoping that it will be pretty open and clear because of the time, direction, and day.

There was an accident at the exit from MV at the same time Salesian school run was on. School traffic backed up to the accident then people from MV trying to assist traffic from MV past the RTC.
