Rental housing recommendations

Post by Storekeeper »

Looks like we’ll be making that move to Thailand sometime in October. Looking for lodging recommendations on where to stay for the first 1-2 months that I can research on the internet. Something in the 1500 or less baht a day is probably good enough. A decent pool, walking distance of the beach and close to wherever you find the farang stores, bars and restaurants. Want to socialize and get a feel for the place. Tourist area is fine.

Also any recommendations would be appreciated regarding places to rent a 2 bedroom/2 bath small house. Looking for the best deal I can get for 20,000 baht a month or less. A community in a gated village as close to town as possible would be awesome. Don’t need a pool with the house but a community with a nice sized pool would be ideal. Not ruling out a condo if I can one that at least 80 sqm and has the 2 bedroom/2 bath.

If you PM me, I'll send you my landlady/realtor's info. She speaks English, won't rip you off, and is a font of information about the area. I live in the type of house you're looking for, so they are available at 15,000 a month.

/\ I think he needs 10 posts before he can use the PM function. Also he wants a place near to town and farang hangouts. Your area may not suit. I would think Soi 88/94/102 area would suit him better.

Prices of rental are raising very quick i feel. I checked many places where owners added 2 to 5 k per month if i compare with 2 years ago. And no improvement in the houses

Yes, let's ask for more rent to make up for the rent we lost by asking too much in the first place!

Unfortunately, the only solution to these over ambitious Landlords(and their agents) is to submit multiple offers at very realistic rents.

Also, be as patient as possible and try to offer as much rent in advance as you can afford to part with. You are more likely to get a cheaper rent that way.

Good luck

Storekeeper, did you get sorted with a place to rent? My place will be available from mid November if that is still within your plans, I know a little later than you planned.
