At this moment in time...(expressions that P*** us off)
At this moment in time...
I make no apologies for the fact that I'm a bit of a language snob. I like to hear and read good English. I have a lot of pet hates, but this is one of the current leaders.
Have you ever used it yourself? Have you ever heard anyone other than an ex-footballer TV pundit use it? To me, it's simply a way of saying 'at the moment', but trying to make yourself sound intelligent.
Makes me cringe every time I hear it. Which is only when I'm watching football.

Dont need to be a snob like you. No, and I agree with you.dtaai-maai wrote: ↑Wed Feb 15, 2023 3:32 am At this moment in time...

Maybe the heading should be changed to expressions that piss you off. My main pet hate is: "we reached out"!
FFS, did you every hear this expression in English classes? When I was young if I "reached out" it was probably to grope some sexy girl!
May you be in heaven half an hour before the devil know`s you`re dead!

Run that by me again.

Closing a sentence with "end of".
“Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.”
― George Carlin
“The further a society drifts from the truth, the more it will hate those who speak it.” -George Orwell.

Re: At this moment in time...(expressions that P*** us off)
And then there is the Einstein's the start a sentence, either written or spoken, with: "Look".....

Re: At this moment in time...(expressions that P*** us off)
"At the end of the day it is what it is"
Re: At this moment in time...(expressions that P*** us off)
Very often used by some TV commentator: "You know"...............
May you be in heaven half an hour before the devil know`s you`re dead!

Using 'PERIOD' spoken at the end of a sentence.
That reminds me of Victor Borge and his phonetic punctuation.

Too many to recall but I'll start with
Bad boys!
Eg "can't wait to try these bad boys!"
When talking of say golf clubs etc
Grow up!
Oh another one is this social media posting fad of posing a question and then..... "Wrong Answers Only!"
FFS!
OK that isn't a spoken expression but so much of what we communicate nowadays is the written word
Ps I'm so jealous that I didn't start this thread!
