No doubt lost - but in your case, perhaps a little above the neck (we won't mention the woods...)?

There's a couple I love in Welsh.... For one: -

"Dim gwerth rhech dafad" - Not worth a sheep's fart (useless).

My dear departed uncle (born and bred Yorkshireman) on the other hand loved the saying "About as useful as a crack in a glass eye...." - always made me smile that one! :D

[EDIT] A friend of mine reminded me of one which is more a "Mid-Wales/North Wales one".... and believe me could be misinterpreted!!

"Dos i chwarae efo dy nain" - It literally translates as "Go and play with your Gran!", but is meant as F**k Off!

Oh dear, just awaiting the sheep and insest comments.....

Aren't sheep and incest pretty much the same thing in Wales...? :duck:

EDIT: I'm picturing John Cleese in Holy Grail as the soldier with the outrageous French accent on the ramparts yelling down, "... and your grandmother was a sheep...".

A fairly disgraceful one I heard today - the LHG had overheard a comment and asked me what it meant.... She fully understands the "C Word" being extremely insulting, but asked me to explain (she was taking people from Mencap to a new Zoo (well small replacement of Bristol Zoo now closed) in the zoo that is now the City of Bristol)..... Anywho: -

"You are a typical c**t who only remembers the last pr**k you met" - Oh yeah, very special! Actually quite difficult to tone down!! Might have just smacked the guy with my crutch if I could only move more quickly, not in circles (and I was there rather than watching "Daytime TV").... Can't say I enjoy hearing some of the reports from the LHG's work - though I don't believe this comment was targeted at any of the party.

Then let's go to shall we say more polite ones.....

"I'd agree with you - but then we'd both be wrong!"

"..Has reached the bottom and showing signs of digging.."

Churchill still has to be one of the best, but perhaps not suited here....

It seems that what was considered “foul” language 20-30 years ago is now considered part and parcel of everyday life - virtually every mainstream programme in the UK shown after 9pm contains numerous use of the F word simply as part of the conversation. I’ve set my benchmark at “Vera”, if I hear her use it, I’m turning the TV off!! :naughty:

I remember hearing a new word.. "Bloody" when I was a young kid. My Mother overheard me saying it and washed my mouth out with soap!! Try it with the kids these days and well.....

I joined the Royal Navy when I was 16 years old in the 1980s so I'm quite proficient at swearing and to be honest, I think it serves a purpose, there are quite a lot of times in modern life when polite conversation doesn't really cut the mustard.

Oh, having spent the majority of my working life on mine sites, chemical plants and in fabricators, I'm fairly proficient myself.... Watching Welsh rugby for several decades hasn't helped!!

And yes, I'd agree that certain times call for a spot of more colourful language these days...... Especially when pointing out through a TV screen that the referee is fatherless and not exactly following the rules of the game.
