Hmmm, AI-generated QR codes sure look nicer than those horrible black-and-white boxes that are everywhere ...

Been playing around with a new AI called Claude (you need a VPN to the US to access it) which appears more advanced than ChatGPT.

Thanks for that :thumb: Just had a quick look - certainly seems better/more user friendly (IMO) than ChatGPT. Just as an aside, I can access from the UK without the need for a (US) VPN.

Not a laughing matter it seems....

"US comedian Sarah Silverman is suing ChatGPT maker OpenAI and technology giant Meta, alleging that her copyright has been infringed in the training of the firms' AI systems.

Systems like ChatGPT learn to imitate human language by analysing large datasets of human text.

Meta declined to comment. OpenAI has not yet replied to BBC questions.

Two other authors in addition to Ms Silverman are bringing the class-action case.

The case against OpenAI alleges that without the authors' consent "their copyrighted materials were ingested and used to train ChatGPT".

The case against Meta, which owns Facebook and Instagram, concerns its LLaMa AI system. Initially released to a small group of users primarily working on research, the system was subsequently leaked online."

We're not quite there yet, but give it another year or two and it'll be flawless. Give it another 5-10 years and the movies will be flawless.

Writers Guild on strike. Actors on strike. First time in 63 years they're on strike together. Their entire world, their profession, is about to go to shit. This decade. Every single aspect of the entertainment industry is going down.

The viewer, us, won't be negatively affected. We'll get those enhanced made-to-order experiences. More choice. I do feel for the average workers in the industry. The extras. Camera crew. Bit parts. etc.

Though if I'm honest, I can't wait to see the back of the most narcissistic, self-involved, virtue-signalling, power-hungry, patronising, privileged group of pretentious pricks the world has ever known (Hollywood). :D :thumb:

Love me movies, but I can't think of many actor/actresses that I like as a human beings 😂🤣

I missed this one:

OpenAI launches official ChatGPT app for Android
On July 21, OpenAI revealed its plan to launch an Android version of the popular artificial intelligence (AI) ChatGPT chatbot in the coming week. The launch follows its release to iOS users in May.

The company announced the launch in a tweet and provided a preorder page in the Google Play Store, allowing users to register for installation once the app is ready.

The announcement follows OpenAI’s recent efforts to enhance the safety and transparency of its tools with initiatives like content watermarking. The company has been under scrutiny due to concerns about misinformation generated by its AI.

There's loads of AI bots that'll translate any video into another language for you in seconds with the same voice, but to adjust the lip movements also is pretty damn neat. :D

I know little of AI, quantum computing, etc, and at my age (65) I probably don’t need to worry. But I am concerned about my children and grandchildren.

This looks like the official ChatGPT app for Android (haven't tried it yet): https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... ai.chatgpt

I reckon they'll start charging subscriptions to use these LLMs soon, enjoy them while they're free.

Google launches its largest and ‘most capable’ AI model, Gemini
Google is launching what it considers its largest and most capable artificial intelligence model Wednesday as pressure mounts on the company to answer how it’ll monetize AI.

The large language model Gemini will include a suite of three different sizes: Gemini Ultra, its largest, most capable category; Gemini Pro, which scales across a wide range of tasks; and Gemini Nano, which it will use for specific tasks and mobile devices.

Now an intelligent machine can hoover up all of your personal data for profit.

But look at what it can do while it hoovers our data. It is pretty cool. 😂

Taken From: - https://thenextweb.com/news/google-gemi ... -europe-uk

"Yesterday, Google launched its much anticipated response to OpenAI’s ChatGPT (the first release of Bard didn’t really count, did it?). However, the new set of generative AI models that Google is dubbing “the start of the Gemini era” will not yet be available in Europe — due to regulatory hurdles.

The tech giant is calling Gemini the “most capable model ever” and says it has been trained to recognise, understand, and combine different types of information including text, images, audio, video, and code.

According to Demis Hassabis, CEO of Google DeepMind, it is as good as the best human experts in the 50 different subject areas they tested the model on. Furthermore, it scored more than 90% on industry standard benchmarks for large language models (LLMs).

The three models of the Gemini AI family
The Gemini family of models will be available in three sizes. Gemini Ultra is the largest (but also slowest), intended to perform highly complex tasks; Gemini Pro the best-performing for a broad range of tasks; and Gemini Nano for on-device tasks."

Or perhaps take a look at ChatGPT-4.....

https://openai.com/gpt-4

All interesting it has to be said!!

Google has been faking it ...

Google’s Demo For ChatGPT Rival Criticized By Some Employees
When Google unveiled Gemini, its long-awaited answer to ChatGPT, perhaps the most jaw-dropping use case involved a duck. In a pre-recorded video demo shared on Wednesday, a disembodied hand is shown drawing the animal. The AI system appears to analyze it in real-time as it’s drawn and responds with a human-sounding voice in conversation with the user.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai promoted the video on X, writing, “Best way to understand Gemini’s underlying amazing capabilities is to see them in action, take a look.” Others on X said the demo was “mind-blowing” and “unreal.”

But the technology doesn’t quite work as well as people assumed, as many were quick to point out. Right now, Gemini doesn't say its responses out loud, and you probably can’t expect its responses to be as polished as it appears to be in the video. Some Google employees are also calling out those discrepancies internally.
