There's so much coming from upstairs these days, you could do it, but every time it happens, you are devaluing the worth of the man in the middle. We're human - we're allowed to make mistakes.

Did you see the Japanese penalty today? The girl wasn't touched in the box (knowing the dirty minds on here, I though I'd better change that) inside the penalty area. Where were the VAR demi-gods for that baby? They are human as well. All that you are doing is increasing the number of levels incompetence. The more chiefs that you have, the greater the opportunity for corruption,

When it was Christened the beautiful game, there was one ref and 2 linesmen. These days, there is a management board and a shitload of cameras, and they still get it wrong. So was the Japanese penalty an error or corruption?

Personally, I'd like to go back to a ref and 2 linesmen. Maybe throw in a laced leather ball as well.

Wow!!! It just goes to show how much I don't know. When it came to 1/4 final predictions, I thought it was a doddle  . 2/2 terribly wrong so far

Fair play to them!! Not the result I was expecting.
Didn't get to see it, but have the England match on now - certainly all England at the moment

Added time plus extra time. I think it went 120+ minutes. Followed by double penalty shootout periods.

Christ, "edge of your seat" stuff then. Must have taken a hell of a lot to get through that - players and supporters alike!!

What a time to concede, 1 minute before half time Eng 0 Col 1.

It’s been a very physical game, particularly by the Colombians
