Burmese border market

Have just read on the Baan Krut guide of a supposed large market about 40 mins from Baan Krut. Does anyone know of it? If so, is it worth a visit? and directions please. We will staying at Baan Krut but if too far will visit on the way from Hua Hin... GN

I presume you mean the market at Dan Singkorn.

The only market on the border is Dan Singkhon in Prachuap which is about 45 minutes from Ban Krut.

it is almost a ghost place now. Many shops still closed. Really disappointing place if i compare 5 years ago

Even worse if you compare to about December 2009, when the market was in the jungle.

Yes, a really good market back then. Even I, as somebody who hates shopping, used to like wandering around.

That's just over 1 hr away from BK beach (Gmap), and only if your in the neighborhood would it be worth popping over to.

Gem/stone/jewelry vendors, a decent plant vendor, and wood furniture, and that's about it. It's very close to us, or Imm when I go, and I don't bother going out there. Used to be a coffee shop just before it, we liked, but that closed.

If you haven't been to the weekend night market at PKK city, that's would be a better choice. Usually Fri/Sat, but ask here after 12 noon, and I can verify it's being set up.

If getting a bit bored, there's a free waterfall only 45 minutes away from BK beach...

Just up the road from BK beach, before Phetkasem rd, if haven't been yet, there is an excellent coffee shop/rest. Baan Jib. I'm partial to the Green Curry Chicken & Roti. Lovely setting

We regularly , once every few months take a trip down there from Pak Nam Pran
always a few interesting things
yes its very quiet ,even on friday and saturday
lots of furniture , lots of other house stuff, plenty of plants
and then lunch in PKK at a little Japanese place
a good day out.

Question for bigston. When was the last time you were at the market? is it still worth a diversion there? And can you share the location of the Japanese place you go to. Plan to leave HH early on a Saturday and drop in on the market first before grabbing a bite, then heading to the hotel in BK for a 2 night stay.

The View is good for Thai food, avoid their western fare, though wife did have a decent Club Sandwich last time there;
