Well, here it is. The countdown posters are up, and the New Year Fireworks on the beach will be at 10pm. Sorry, poor photo - taken whilst driving

They used to have a fireworks display at midnight here in Luxembourg on the National day but they do it earlier now because so many people were turning up with young children.

In Thailand some people turn up with a pistol and fire off a round of shots in the air - just make sure you don’t catch them on the way down!!

Yes, Merry Christmas everyone!
I envy you out there in Thailand, I'm back in Luxembourg working for the next few days and with Christmas coming on a Monday, everything is closed for three days so you can't even go out after work.

Incidentally, I was just reminiscing about spending Christmas in Hua Hin in the past and was wondering if anyone else remembered the great dinners that Barry, ex of the Roadhole used to put on after he went into partnership with JW?
It must have been about 15 odd years ago but we had some good times, a complete Christmas dinner with everything including plum pudding and brandy sauce and I remember one year we even had the Stonehead band playing there!

Big Boy wrote: Mon Dec 18, 2023 11:07 am Sounds a bit like last year then. The big display at 10, followed by a giant firecracker at midnight?
I sit and wait with apprehension as to when they will start where we are as our little doggo turns into Cujo and becomes uncontrollable. :(

Where we are, away from heavily populated areas, folks seem to get drunk early and they start going off around 2100 hours. Although, the wife says the the town doesn't have the money or budget this year, so perhaps it will just be the personal kind, and not the commercial boomers. I live in hope.
