Which Hua Hin Area Attraction Is Your Number 1

On average, I receive about 18 foreign visitors each year, and this year's have well exceeded that number already. I always make a point of taking visitors on what I call the Hua Hin Grand Tour, which is a packed day of visiting local attractions. Every visitor this year has said at the end that the visit to Pranburi Forest, and taking the boat trip half way around (half of the wooden walkway closed today for maintenance) has been their favourite.

I thought if others could provide similar feedback from their visitors, we might all learn something that could be shared with future visitors.

I thought I'd mention the above trip, which I've done a few times because I simply sit on the dock and await the boats return these days. It is amazing how many foreigners get to the boats, are asked if they want a boat trip, and immediately say, "Too expensive."

FFS, these people have paid a fortune to get to Thailand, they've decided to visit the Mangrove Forest, and are then too tight to spent an extra 112฿ for an hour's boat trip that enhances/completes the Mangrove Forest experience.

I've watched many walk away from a really good Thailand experience through sheer ignorance of what is on offer.

How many others have visitors who have favourite attractions that the rest of us don't know about? Please share local attractions that your visitors have really enjoyed - a happy visitor is so much easier to host.

Yes, there are 12 boats (maximum 6 persons per boat) doing the trip, so even today when it was very busy, nobody had to wait more than a couple of minutes.

I must admit that I only get Thai visitors from my partners extended family who sometimes drive down from Bangkok but I find that the drive down the coast to Dolphin Bay and a seafood dinner goes down very well.

I’ve only ever taken visitors to the Hutsadin Elephant Foundation just outside Hua Hin (not the one further out) and that has always been popular, especially with the children. Definitely not my favourite but my sons and granddaughter very much enjoyed Van Nava water jungle.

To give a brief review of some of the places we visited
Turtle Bay - getting a bit tatty, so perhaps I would give it a miss next time
Siam Venezia - The water in the 'canal' is a bit disgusting, so I wouldn't take the canal ride

I dont have so many visitors that a No.1 can be determined. As Steve said, a trip down the coast is always popular, on one occasion, as far as to the temple at Ban Krut. I always suggest PKK area as it is so lovely, but generally it is to the Sam Roi Yot area and beach, lunch somewhere, then a drive up the coast to Pak Nam Pran, and if time, the mangrove walk, and a cut through to Kao Tao lake and then back to Hua Hin.

And I always suggest the vineyard for lunch, but that's just me being selfish!

Forgot to add, no Thai visitor has asked to see the Kings statues, just happy to look when driving past.

The vineyard was always a regular place for me to take visitors, but I stopped when they announced a parking fee. I know you can get it back when you purchase food, but I can't always manage that much food. We all used to end up in the Sala, and would invariably spend, but the fee simply turned me off.

Same with Venezia - always took visitors until the admission fee was imposed. I do not pay to go shopping.

Funny, I was there with visitors 3 days ago, and we said exactly the same thing. The sun is playing havoc with the boardwalk and bamboo cladding.

I can understand not paying for parking etc under normal circumstances, but when you have visitors who for some could be the only time they visit, then maybe you can make an exception for something a bit special - I certainly would if a parking fee was the only issue.

Since I have no friends my only visitors have been my daughter and her two boys. Highlights for kids may be different than for adults and with kids we didn't do much in the way of temples or places two young "active" boys would not be welcome. The highlights for them pretty well all involved animals. The elephant foundation, monkey mountain, feeding the fish at the Bor Fai temple grounds were their favorites in HH. I also took them on a boat ride from Racer marina up the coast to the airport. My daughter really enjoyed looking at the backside of the houses and hotels. We talked about doing it again at night but never got around to it, I think that would also be nice.
