There are many places in Hua Hin to hire one. There are a few down the road to the beach next to Sofitel.

Also one of HHAD has a sponsor where you can rent a motorbike. Prices look reasonable and they have automatics. Look at the folowing link ;

First of all you must understand how the traffic goes before you hire a bike.
Take some rides with a motorbike taxi and make sure you understand the crazy flow of traffic in this town.
If you survive the rides, and still want to have a go on your own, then rent a bike and remember allways to wear a crash helmet.
Personall I found that the bikes-rental company at the end of Soi Bintabaht to be the best. (Close to the Hua Hin Tempel) or Wat Hua Hin as they call it.
Henkie is right that there are many places where you can rent a bike, but not all of them are thrust worthy!
Stay away from the main road after dark, there are too many good people who made their last trip on that road due to drunk drivers. (Phetkasem Road).
I intend to live forever - so far so good.

Unlikely I would have thought.

From the place at the top of Bintabaht that Norseman mentioned, (by the motorbike taxi rank at the back of the Wat) you pay 200 baht a day for a new automatic, such as a Honda Click or Yamaha Nuovo. You can haggle them down a little on longer rents for their older bikes, but for the newer ones they stick to 200 baht. As far as I know they are fully legal, but ask for proof if you are unsure.

There is no such thing as damage insurance for a bike. I believe you get cover for theft and possible third party injury. If you use the one oin the beach road next to the Sofitel on the right tye lady (Booah) speaks very good English and will tell you what cover you get. She also has automatics. Dr. Dave can probably assist as well if you can catch him when he is not spinning.

Take heed of the wise words of Norseman though. You need to be a better than average motorcyclist to survive in Hua Hin. If you are not forget it. This is not the place to learn.

Please.
To wear a helmet in Hua Hin is not a question of mony, but your life!!!
You are stupid if you don't bother to wear a crash helmet.
Take a closer look of some of the pictures Dr. Dave Soul Monsta published some months ago and find out for yourself.
When you live here and watches the mess that once was a beautiful girl or good-looking guy you will understand what I try to tell.

Norseman,,this is a world wide problem,,not just Hua Hin..Helmets are compulsary in most countries now,and fines are a way to make it compulsary,,,and Thai's are learning to wear them,which is good....
