And I guess that's about 3,800 higher than normal because of all of those lucky 9's in there.  Pete

Yes Pete, I have heard of some "lucky" mobile numbers changing hands for silly money in Bangkok.

The poster may be selling as moving to Dtac. Smart move if so. My AIS has been the pits for many weeks now: voice mail turned off and on at will, voice messages lost, SMS messages arrive 2 days late, phone is on, people call me, it doesn't ring and they get a message that I am unavailable???? what the F. Mr. T may be sabotaging things from afar Pete

Surely you cannot be expecting people to pay 4000 baht for the number which of course will change within 4 weks anyway and will be preceded by 08.

It is not exactly memorable so what is it. Is there something about 9s that is lucky.

Anyway let me know if you find some sucker to pay you for it and how you go about the transfer of ownership because I have a better one than that.

We get that periodically here but AIS usually get priority. They all at some point use TOT infrastructure who were accused if hogging bandwidth when it ran low. I am sure that you have notice that when something runs out the Thais get more. Ther is no concept of we wuill run outb next week so lets do something now.

I am wondering if all these comms sell offs have had an effect on policy.

Up until one year ago the very last option would have been DTAC. It only sold to kids on price. Things may have changed though now.

As for the original OP, if you do find some muppet to pay you 4000 baht per month for a meaningless number with lots of nines in it how would you feel. Would it not occur to you in the slightest that you had conned an idiot out is money. I know that fools and their money are soon parted but you do not have to be a calloborator.

Is you next business venture taking candy from children outside 7/11 eleven telling them it is bad for their health.

Slightly off topic, I had the same problem with car registration number, the wife flatly refused to accept the first number issued too many 4s, got her own way in the end but took 9 months.

It looks like STEVE was right and I got the wrong idea. Perhaps you could tell us all the meaning of the number and why you place such a high value on it bearing in mind of course that in three weeks it wil be changed to 0899939980.

If this is lucky what other numbers would you suggest are worth having. I need some lucj right now P'tip.

P'tip,

I'm sorry, I don't understand - if it's not a lucky number, why would anyone want to buy the SIM? They would have the inconvenience of any of your friends or colleagues whom you hadn't informed of your number change calling them, when they could get a new SIM for "free" by signing up to a new AIS, DTAC etc deal.
I know, on the occasions I've lost my phone, I've never been so worried about the phone as by the loss of the SIM - I couldn't face the inconvenience of changing my number & letting everyone know it. Maybe that's just me. :?
