Bank Account vs Income - Now i'm Really Confused

Post by niggle »

Well, just when I thought I'd got it sussed I read abount new regulations regarding amount in Thai bank for retirement visa or minimum income. Then I read about not accepting bank account money just proof of income. Can anyone lighten my darkness ?

Also, is a Thai branch of a foreign bank (Citibank) acceptable for the bank deposit regulation ?
Thanks

As long as you are over 50 years old, the requirements are 800k in a Thai bank account (it must have been there for 3 months before applying and not fall below that amount whilst doing so), or an income of 65k a month, or a combination of the two.
I'm not a legal expert, but that's my reading of it all.
Hope that helps.

Simple norseman Hua hin Immigration

Multiply 65000 X 12 = 780000 which is not 800,000 and on my first renewal i was told to up the 65000 a month to make the years income come to 800,000 or more i chose and my mate chose 70,000
it also allows for a change in rates of exchange should they ask

simple really but fact is 65000 a month doesnt cut it they will query 65000

Just got my Retirement Visa 2 weeks ago. They needed a letter from my bank (same day) that I had funds of over 800,000 Baht in my account.I only got a "top up" from my UK bank the week before ,making my funds OK.I was concerned that the correct amount had not been in my account for 3 months as they stipulate but thankfully they did not ask to see my bank book.
Hope this helps but be warned they seem to move the goal posts whenever they like
