(VISAS) The Royal Thai Consulate in Hull (UK)

Post by Marvo »

Just posting this on the forum to let UK folk know that The Royal Thai Consulate in Hull (UK) have updated and revamped the Visa info on their website.

All the VISA options and information are now crystal clear - a fantastic improvement on what it was.

Sorry, can't post the link as I'm too new here on the forum. Admin say that I might be up to no good :guns:

I'm sure you can find it : 3 Ws + thaiconsul-uk

The link prevention is to stop spammers, not genuine posters like yourself.

Thanks for the info but I must point out (after going on the site) that they have got the info on Retirement visa,s wrong AGAIN.I am not sure about which visa you are applying for and there are many on here who know far more about it than I do.However having just recently got my retirement visa the only thing that Thai Immigration are interested in is a bank balance of 800.000 Baht.
I went to Hull in Sept last year armed with all sorts of notarised documents, bank statements, medical certificate and criminal record clearance which they would not legalise due to impending Visa changes.
When I arrived in LOS I went to the British Embassy and they stamped every one of these documents to say they had seen them, not that they were legal.I had to wait 24 hours to get them back and there was a charge of I think 1000 Baht per document.
I wrote to Hull telling them that the info on the site was misleading to say the least......I did not get a reply.I will write again now it has been "updated"
Best of luck hope everything goes well for you.

Thanks Higgy,

I'm a long way off retiring so I'm about to apply for a valid-for-a-year multiple entry "O" type VISA for "extended stay". (£90)
This application needs to be accompanied by a "self-Certification Guarantee Form" where:

"I ______________________________ hereby confirm that I have sufficient
funds to meet all reasonable expenses during my stay in Thailand including,
if necessary, the cost of repatriation to the country of which I am a citizen."

I'm going to have go out of the country and come back in every three months but I'll be set up for a year then. This all seems too simple to me. I'll let you all know how I get on with the application.

Marvo.

PS Looking for a place to rent in HH (walking distance to the golf course) with kitchen (inc washing machine), pool, gym? etc for 10-12,000 Baht a month. Does this exist????

If your budget for rental with washing machine and pool was close to 30K a month you may get lucky

Rubbish.
If you are married to a Thai person the criteria is simple now - 40k average income over three months.
If over 50 years, go for retirement and then take it from there.
It's pretty easy. Those who can't understand the deal, don't deserve to be here.
And BTW, I've been here for years and I will not be drawn into discussions about right and wrong, visa wise.
Up to you.

So, looks like it's decision time, something's going to have to give.

It's the beer or the washing machine then!
