HH to Phuket by car

Post by migrant »

Hey All,

I thought I had seen this before (possibly even by me! ) but my search didn't find it.

We are thinking of renting a car and driving to Phuket.

Does anyone know how long a drive it is?

Thanks!

Did it in April, 8 hours approx including a couple of stops.

You can do it in less if you have a lead foot.

I did it in 10 hours but went the scenic route and visited Khoa Lak for an hour to see what it was like after the Tsunami.I would not go that way again as the roads were narrow and winding along the mountains and coast.
Most people I asked reckon 8 hours including stops was right and the traffic is not too bad either.
Good luck

Drove to Khao Lak lately. Eight hours. Add two more for Phuket. We did it the relaxed way. No excessive speeding, no dubious overtaking. Included 5 or 6 stops due to 6 month old baby on board.
We are all living in 'the good old days' of the future.

Hello there Migrant my Man!!!

I think you do the trip in roughly 8 to 10 hours depending how many stops you plan in between and if you choose to go the fast route or go the scenic route. Just make sure you don't miss the off turn from Surat Thani to Phuket the rest will be smooth sailing errr I mean smooth ride for ya.
