camera and printing

Post by englishfl »

Hi

I have to do two things before heading off on travels on Friday. One is buy a decent camera - Canon or Nikon range but I can only find them in Tesco's so far where the range is a little limited. Anywhere else in Hua HIn?

I also need to print out my "book" which requires a little more than I can do on my feeble computer here. Is there anywhere in HuaHin which can possibly handle this - 180 pages with quite a few color pictures.

Helpful pointers woud be appreciated....Thank you!

As far as the camera goes, if you go up one floor in Market Village there is a shop selling all sorts of camera and computer related stuff; with HomePro behind you it is on the left hand side of the building, probably no more than 50 metres from HomePro. They tend to have just the compact digital cameras from memory though, so if you want something grander I don't know where you can look except Bangkok. Regarding the printing, one place you can try is on the corner of Phetkasem Road and Soi 88, which is the same side as the Grand but a little bit further south. There are loads of printing places around though so I'd suggest looking around.

Funnily enough i do, as I was looking at them the other day for my phone, in the same shop mentioned above. The 2GB one was 1200 baht, but i think you should be able to get them for less than that. If you look at http://www.crucial.com they are cheaper certainly but I don't know if or how much to deliver to Thailand. I am going to investigate though so will come back on here when I find out.

OK, just been on the crucial site and it really depends on a couple of things - they require advance payment before shipping to Thailand, and not by credit card, and then the shipping costs are $30!!! As this is more than the cost of one microSD card ($29.99) then it's not worth it unless you are buying a number of things from them. Another alternative is to buy it and have it sent to an address in the US or UK free, and then have someone post it to you. The UK price is £14.09 inc VAT so definitely cheaper, even when you add the postage from a friend. maybe not significant enough to warrant the effort though.

Cheers, need one for my phone too.

The Sony Ericsson K850i im getting takes Micro SD and M2 but M2 is more expensive.

The girlfriends having my old phone, I bought her a Nokia N72 from the place in Market village in June but she now wants my K800i for the camera and will want the M2 card too as that phone only takes M2.

Best place for cameras is the little shop in Big C. Hua Hin is over priced with a limited selection.
