Do we really have friends here????

Post by Cowtown Comedy »

Are these people that we bump into in bars, have a few laughs, shoot a game of pool, our friends? Maybe I'm getting confused with the whole concept of friendship. Prior to this immersion into the asian expat lifestyle, I had true friends that I trusted, and relied on. Alcohol was not a catlyst for "friendship". Perhaps I am slightly jaded because on more than one occasion, I have had "friends" who were only pretending to be friends for financial gain. I liked reading the post on all the rocket scientists in HH. You rocket scientists must have been paid very poorly, because many of you wear the same shirt every day, and complain that Singha is 70b, but 65b around the corner. Why dont you rocket scientists sit on the walkway outside 7-11. Ok..I'm done bitching...but i would truly like to know if people have real friends here, friends that would crawl across broken glass to help you out...and no Mr. friend..I'm not interested in buying your house....for the 10th time...haha..east on those Singha's boys, thailand doesnt sell XXXXXL... :)

Cowtown Cowboy - good question! You ask if the people you bump into in HH are your friends. Of course the answer is no. Didn't you know we are all here because we couldn't make friends with anyone from where we came from. That makes you an exception. You say you had true friends who you trusted and relied on. Why didn't they warn you not to come here, or maybe they did but you did not trust their advice? As for the Rocket Scientists - please lay off them - didn't you hear about the great Rocket Scientist strike of '89 that rendered whole communities of RS redundant? And now you mock them for not affording new T-shirts. Shame on you CC!
Now are you sure you don't want to buy a house? i have a very interesting one.........

Rocket Factory

Post by Cowtown Comedy »

Jockey...Instead of the Disneyland that will "definately" be built near the bypass, perhaps Thailand could stimulate its economy with a rocket factory...the resources are available and ready. Micky, dont pack your bags quite yet...Disneyland will be a while, like a million years..

who needs friends here when you had them at home, or are they no longer your friends because you left for LOS?

Be happy, enjoy it here and be friendly with whomever you meet.....

Have a good one

Acquaintances are many and easy to come by

True friends are ones that help you when you are down, health, mood or financially strapped wise

I've got many true friends and most of them in Thailand, AND most of them Thai

Cowtown,

Are you paranoid, or just downright detestable?

I've just read that you are afraid to talk to women, and now I read that the only friends you have in Thailand are trying to rip you off.

I think you need to get a real life, and it doesn't seem as if that life should be in Hua Hin IMHO.

I don't come here to make friends, I come to have a good time with acquaintances and neighbours.

Sounds like Cowtown was having a bad hair day. Or maybe thought a magic wand would transform his life in HH.
It don't happen like that. Some effort is needed, as well as some effort to keep in touch with those 'good' friends back home. You soon find out who the real ones are.

Friends are always hard to find anywhere, usually takes years. There are many fair weather types. Use the force and you will be rewarded.

Yes, I also think the OP is having a bad day. Either that or like someone already said, was expecting a magic wand effect. Yes, of course you can have true friends here. I do and as another poster said, many of them are Thai.

Chill out, relax and live your life and as time goes on, you'll have friends unless you are the sort of person that nobody wants to know.
