I had a 2 meter water fall into a Koi pond built a couple of years ago. It was a Thai guy and he did a good job with the construction itself but his plumbing and filter design wasn't the best. I redid it the first time the pump failed (and all the fish died) and now have a beautiful waterfall and crystal clear pond with 40 or so fish. I haven't been able to contact him lately so I think he is not around any more.

It is important that you understand the filtration needs if you want the fish to thrive and if you want to see them. There are many methods but in my experience you need two filters. A three stage bio filter and a UV filter. I use two separate pumps for the two filters because if one fails the fish won't die before you can get it replaced. Also, I use two because it requires a powerful centrifugal pump to power the waterfall and it uses a lot of electricity if I run it all the time (4k baht per month), so I run it 2 hours out of every six and that is plenty to provide oxygen to the water. I have a small submersible pump that goes through the UV filter and out through two small sprinklers in the pond. This keeps the water clear and oxygenated when the waterfall is off.

Design is most important. Read about fish ponds on the internet and then interview pond builders to make sure they seem to know what they are talking about.

Mine, which is pretty complex with the waterfall and filtration system was around 100,000 baht installed. I have spent another 20,000 upgrading it.
